Cool splitter, I've been interested in those for a while. I'm excited to follow your progress with updated pics. You can tell everyone else is too due to their giddy nature on this thread :)

I've looked hard at the Split-fire and DR equivalent, and the Supersplit and Rapidfire type but I've never used either in person.
What made you ultimately decide on this style splitter?

I was planning on going to the Northeast Forestry show in Bangor this month but I have to go to FL now for a stupid business meeting so I'm gonna miss it. Argh! I was planning on trying, and hopefully taking home, one of the splitters I'm interested in.

How does the quality seem? As far as I'm aware DR builds some top quality stuff, but I've never used any of it!

Congrats on a sweet splitter!!!

I said I would keep this with updated with the good and the bad so the rapidfire runs and splits great but the thing I am finding out is this splitter needs a detachable wing off the production table so their is a place to put splits wile you work on the other pieces I an going make one clips on and has a leg

I decided on this splitter not by the corny adds dr uses but the sheer simplicity of the machine it is using the same principles as swinging a hundred pound maul it amazes everyone that sees it I will give you a little advise you do have to pick up the logs and if you plan on going for the monster logs this is not the splitter you would want it will split anything you can LIFT on it I get logs that are 20" and smaller so not a big deal it is great for my indoor burner because it likes small splits and this splitter makes them in a hurry the quality is good I am a welder by trade and the steel is of good quality and the welds are neat and clean the rack and pinion looks like it can handle a lot of abuse and the motor is a suberu so no worries

LOL. No Scotty. I do live right on the Canadian border though. They may be rubbing off on me!

(I will be waiting for the responses from our Canadian members for that!)

I will be nice because it is memorial day for you people today. Just remember that little fire we started in 1812 (we still have matches) :)

I'm about 4-5 cords deep on the log splitter and was running it and the muffler fell off it actually broke the welds on the neck where it ties into the body of the muffler now this upset me a lot so I called dr and they said it has happened to a few of the suburu motors I'm not holding it against dr because they don't build the motors I was under the impression that these were good motors so dr is sending a new muffler to me
