No X-Box for junior this evening....

That tree was right up against a pavilion, that my grandparents built back in the late 70's. They've passed on and the property now belongs to one of the laziest people I've ever met in my natural life.....I could go on and on there, but I won't....

As for the wood, we split it right the spot. Each round probably weighed 3-400 pounds.

When I encounter ants, I pitch that pile of splits to the side for a couple days. Usually, more often than not, the ants will grab their eggs and vacate the wood........it burns just as good as the other stuff..

I season all of my wood for a minimum of three years from the time I split it........I'm almost 4 years ahead!!

Xbox is this stupid video game system.......I have no interest in video games but you know how kids are these days!

Thanks Scotty, Ive seen a lot of your work, your kids will be lucky if it rubs off on them. Nice fireplace work. There arent many tricks to teaching but a lot of tricks to learning. As we all know.
Saw the big pile of rounds and didnt know if you had dragged those home as well. And would you say that buggy oak is still better than clean poplar?

when i was growing up, the atari/nintendo/sega master system (the one that came out in the 80s) were reserved for days when it was over 100 outside, or it was raining... otherwise i was outside till it was dark with my free time. it's what i wanted to do... whether i wanted to or not. you never see a scene of kids scattering out of the street yelling "car!....... game on!" anymore.

Well, I thought it was going to be two loads.......but I stacked it nice and tight in the bed and ended up making it one.....

Bring on the comments...but keep in mind, I only had to drive this 200 yards.....;)

I chose buggy oak over poplar any day...as long as that oak isn't punked out......;)

That's a healthy looking load Scotty ;)

My son will be 12 this Sept. He is more into the PS3, but it is also a privilege that is earned. If you wanna play PS3?? You need to help Dad 1st.

Responsibilities come 1st.. The games can come later.

These are lessons that will long be remembered. Long after he is done with his video games, he will remember those times with Dad (at least I always did).

Good points Dexter. Now that summer is here, my kids are on a "play outside unless it's raining" regiment. They can save video games for the rainy days.

Scotty I wish every parent had the same view of video games! A couple of years ago I dug out my old Atari and gave it to my kids for Christmas - it still works! We have to battle them a bit because we have the "play outside unless it's raining or ridiculously hot" rule but for the most part they're really good about it. None of the new violent games for sure.

And if you get much further ahead the wood your son helps with now won't be burned until he's moved out!!

Hauled a load of sand for my neighbor in Ole Blue the other day(He's a Ford guy) asked me if I sure it was gonna make it?
...I see daylight between the bump stops - good to go

I think Scotty was near the point of needing independent rear braking to steer with that load! :lol:

Good thing you made it in one trip. Wouldn't want to have to drive a full 200 yards for a second trip. :p

That's a good thought......may have spent more time stacking it up real nice to haul it 200 yards than to make 2 trips......of course I would probably have done the same thing and then thought of that. Since Bogy has not been there yet here you go...."Don't mind the mule load the wagon"

I actually did it on purpose, just for a gag (I HAVE had loads like that on the truck before, though.....). Wifey almost peed her panties from laughing when I pulled out of the neighbors yard with the front wheels of that ol' 3/4 ton almost off of the ground!
