Does anyone have "The Elm" woodstove? I saw it in my book from 1980, and it looked pretty interesting. I Googled it, and there is a fellow that restores them and sells them and parts. I was just interested to hear your experiences with them, both good and bad. Thanks!

Not much to it, A heavy barrel with a Pyrex pie plate inserted as the see-view door. It was kind of cute, but not buying today. Need a new glass door? go to Walmart.

I have a wood stove that burns a lot of elm... does that count?

I've split a lot of elm... does that count?

It does if you own a Pyrex pie plate.

But I do wonder about skinny dipping in Vermont.
Don't they have black flies and mosquitoes and the like?

Yes, but the bugs can't swim! That's WHY you go skinnydipping! %-P

The Elm woodstove, does it have a GIANT loading door?

So you dont have to split the Elm ;)

I am here to answer any and all questions regarding Elm stoves. My website contains lots of useful info, and photos and procedures on parts replacements. http://www.vermontironstove.com, email [email protected]

I was curious as to how you like the stove, how efficient it is, etc. I think that it's a unique looking stove-the one in your picture is cool looking.

What was that commercial a few years ago? I liked it so much I bought the company! Well, I have worked on some significant improvements to the air intake system, and see a cleaner burn. Not that it was not clean previously, but I often see nothing but heat waves from the chimney.

Well I wish you luck and much success with it; it definitely is a unique looking stove. There's something about it that is appealing to me. Perhaps it's the glass front.
