So i called the town today to ask them about building a wood shed on my property. They told me if its less than 100 sqft and shorter than 9 feet high, i dont need a permit. I have a spot next to my shed where I can build a shed of this size. It's on a slight slope, but no biggy as I would dig footings. I enter these dimensions, minus a few inches on the sides and 6" on top just to be safe into a cord calculator and it tells me I can fit just over 6 cords of wood into it.

Is that a realistic calculation or am i way off?

That seems a little high, so lets see..... 9.5x9.5x8=722 cubic feet. 722/128 cubic foot cord)=5.64 cord. I used what I thought the inside of the shed dimensions would be.

There probably aren't many that cut there firewood 24".
I like 16" so my cord is 3 stacks 8' long. I don't think that changes
your calculation though.

How long is the wood you cut?
this will determine the width of your shed. 8x 12.5 or 10 x 10 etc.

http://www.jamaicacottageshop.com/6x14woodbin.asp these guys have some cool ideas.

The length of what I have split now and the rounds I have currently are less than 18". Most of them probably fall into the 12-16" length. Now that I have my own saw, I keep the rounds between 14"-16" as best I can.

Wow, this really got the wheels turning in my head.

Build 2, then no worries. :)

8' X 12' a good size. Less cutting dimensional lumber
I used pier block for footings & a pallet floor.
