Well, what do you do when it's 91F and 99% humidity? Well, it's too hot to work on the roof, so you go split wood!

Spent some time splitting some wood both yesterday and today. Was dealing with some real big ash rounds today from the tree in the photo below. Rather than muscle a bunch of 800 pound rounds onto the splitter, I figured I'd noodle them with the 064, but it wouldn't start! If there was a blurp with the choke on, I missed it. After a half dozen pulls with choke, I flipped the choke off and pulled until I was too hot to care.

Saw has been sitting a few weeks or months, but that's normal here. Put fresh gas in it today, but not until after the first dozen pulls. Started and ran without trouble the last few times out, but would shut down after several minutes running. We assumed it was a tank venting problem, as loosening and re tightening the gas cap seemed to help that, but more testing was warranted. Hoping it wasn't the ignition.

Pulled out the 036 pro, and proceeded to frustrate myself trying to cut big rounds with a tiny saw! This ash must be some of the hardest I've cut, as the 036 was throwing some fine dust and cutting slow with a sharp 33RSC. So slow that I swapped the chain for a brandy new one, but had the same result. Bar was also running hot, reminding me I might turn up the oiler a bit on that saw.

Oops... Forgot the pic. I felled this last October. That's my felling buddy (and mentor at work) in the photo. Believe it or not, that hillbilly is Director of Development for one of this country's top tech companies.

I feel ya , sucks when U want to use a saw and get the job done, and the saw won't run
I'll give ya 20 bucks for it ;lol;)

You could have missed it.(If You did miss it on that saw and heat your done for the day) When a big saw will not run in that kind of heat well "There's your sign"

That's when I usually grab a cold drink & head back inside to the AC for the rest of the day....::-)

Flooded. She started today, with lots of smoke! Ran great, after clearing out.

Last 24 hours has included mowing and trimming 4 acres of lawn, bucking and splitting a full cord in 91F heat, running to the hospital (45 min away), watching the birth of my daughter, spending the night in a bedside chair at the hospital helping with the baby, driving home, noodling and splitting another half cord, stacking all that wood, and now headed back to hospital! Should sleep well tonight, perhaps my last for a few months to come.

Thanks, guys! I'm already trying to figure out what I'm going to tell the first 16-year old boy who shows up here in his car to take her out. Got many years to ponder that, I hope.

Almost forgot... I also mowed and trimmed 4 acres, somewhere in that 24 hours!

Just be filing the chain on that 064 (30"+ bar recommended) when he comes around. Drop start and double hit the throttle, hold at WOT for a couple seconds, shut it down and while looking at the bar say, "Can't even see the blood no more!".

Should work. ;)

I just keep a couple shotguns in site and strap the 45 on. Never had one late yet and a I have 3 girls 15 16 17.....bawhaha!

My daughter (youngest of three) is 8 going on 16........I have two sons (one is 15 and the other is 12), both of the COMBINED aren't as much maintenance as my baby girl.....I think that God put her on earth as a payback for all the grief I gave my parents.....but I love her to pieces!

And let me tell ya, its amazing how those little girls can wrap daddy around their finger. She's a daddy's girl through and through.......enjoy these young years, they grow up in the blink of an eye!!

As for any 16yr old boys coming around down the road, I've got all kinds of scary things to keep them at bay.......I collect antique tomahawks for starters, and I know how to use 'em....;)

I suspect that image in your avatar will do just fine for keeping those boys at bay, Scotty!

quick tip that i use for a suspected flooded saw or a known flooded one. Pull the plug, and then pull the starter rope a bit to try and expell excess fuel if there is any??? Take plug and spray it with a solvent like brakeclean or carb cleaner. You can blow it with air or just your mouth and it will dry in a few seconds. Reinstall and it will usually start no problem, a bit slow and smokey but will start.

Oh and what a cute little girl. Cant believe the wife let you get away like that!!

Congrats!!!

What a cutie. Put the saws away. Even if you have time, you won't have the energy.

When I knew that a boy was coming to the house to pick up the youngest, I usually took that opportunity to clean a gun on the kitchen table. I also practiced my slow, gritted teeth "Clint Eastwood" turn to the door when he knocked.

Spent a few hours with the 036 today! Then took a nap on the couch with the little one. I took some time off work, so I could take the overnight shift with the kids, and do the morning / bedtime / shuttling to/fro school, etc. rather than my wife having to deal with nursing AND diapers, etc.
