chimney cap replacement.. help

Rockford has a vac cap its a bit pricey & Dura vent has oval to round adapters.

can't comment on performance & it's a gamble $200-$250 Cost but may work .If claims are indeed true

I have eddy currents my self

wish I had better intel but considered this option myself

I have one of these "Weather/Storm/Wind" caps on my chimney, which is 3 or 4 stories up in the air, and gets hit directly with 80mph winds in the winter storms. I'm right on/near the ocean, and get high winds directly onto the chimney. I had huge issues with my oil burner and fireplace for years befroe replacing both with this type of cap last year. Both have yet to have any issues at all since, and we have had some very high winds hit it. Very happy with it's performance on both the oil burner and stove.

I didn't buy from this source, my chimney guy got it for me.... but that looks like the same one.

And I can tell you, both my chimneys are performing like night and day with this cap on, comparied to my previous regular caps which I had all kinds of issues with. I used to blow-up my oil burner gun constantly from the back pressure (aka reverse draft) coming down the chimeny and blow the fire/fuel back onto the gun... from the high winds. This had not occured sicne the change. I also burned my PH right thru high winds all winter with no issues to it or the fire.

The Vacu stack is another option. That is the one I asked my installer for, he recommended the Storm shield and said he thought it performed a bit better. He wasn't just selling me what he had either, cause he had to special order it so he was just blow smoke (punn intended!).

But I have no experience to compare the 2. Good luck
