So we were driving back from the mountains today and planning on heading up to long shoals to get some wood, when I spotted her just laying there beside this old house just a couple of miles from my house! I of course went back to investigate after dropping the camper off in the back yard. The guy was pulling in the drive just as I showed up, what luck is that. He was more than happy to give it me after he figured out that I was not trying to charge him for a service. ( you believe this guy LOL, free wood me no charge!)

As u can see it is a good bit of wood, according to the guy who bought the house last year it was hit by lighting like 30 years ago. He said the neighbors beside of him told him about it. But apparently last months storm was the final straw because down she came. I didn't take a pic of the house but lets just say this guy is really really lucky that he didn't lose his house.

Well, I guess u can see the house, got lucky huh.

we put a dent in it but still plenty to go. I'm guessing about two cords of wood at least.

Nice find. Looks like he had it all limbed and the brush taken care of. About the only thing that can beat that is a tree service dropping it off in your yard.

Wow that's some nice oak rounds there. couple years of heat there.
I'd be interested to know the moisture content. Being struck by lightning years ago,
parts might have been dead long ago.

Everything I have cut so far is pretty green. I think laying on the ground a month with all the rain has actually made it wetter.

Good stuff! And close to home is always nice. Got the best deal you could have asked for, oak, no small branches, and drive right to it.

Yeah , when we went back yesterday to get more the guy said he was worried we wasn't coming back to get the rest.
