I have a customer giving me some mixed woods. Cherry walnut and buckeye. Cant say ive ever seen a thread on buckeye. Hows the processing and burning?

Near the bottom of the BTU charts. Google "firewood BTU".

Buckeye is junk. Right there with ailanthus in my book.

Wow I thought buckeyes were like chestnuts. Oh well, learned something today.

Thats the first mention of this wood that Ive seen. Can you show us some splits? or are you just thinking of harvesting?
I think it is like horse chestnut. The leaves anyway.
Do you have pics?

Most buckeyes are football players.

I havent gotten it yet. Im having a pro do some thinning and pruning for a customer of mine. Most of it is is aerial work so I declined the project but the customer gave me first shot at the wood since he knows I burn. There is only one small buckeye so I will take it and give it to my neighbors for bonfire wood. The rest is walnut and cherry. Ill post up pics once I get it.
