I tried very hard to persuade the other half to accept that big rock. Unfortunately the duck feet defeated that decision.

I am used to front load. The woodstock PH is a nice looking stove, but I am not too sure about the side load. Is it difficult to clean the glass? Seems it would be awkward, especially trying to jam logs in East/West and not being able to move logs in sideways without ease.

I really like side load doors, but I'm not sure I would like to have the side door only. After having stoves with front and side doors, it does seem like it would be a bit awkward.

I looked at a Hearthstone Mansfield today. They are nice looking stoves and appear well made. Anyone own one?

Happy Mansfield owner here. It's very easy to operate and heats well. I like front loading so much more than I thought I would and the square firebox makes for easy loading. I can get 10hr burns loading n/s with a mix of ash, mulberry, and walnut.

My complaints about the stove would be the door latch and hinges could be better (I have not had problems but some have) and flue temps run higher than I would like.

I believe either of the hybrids mentioned previously will heat your home with less wood.

Went to see another dealer about the Cape Cod in PA. They offered to match the price I got plus take off $50.00. They had one on display. It appears to be a nice stove, well made. I also called a place in Delaware. They offered to match the price plus they are offering a free accessory right now. Does anyone know if they charge salestax in Maryland on woodstoves?

I have a PH. It has a huge viewing window, which makes watching the flames a lot of fun. I have mine in my family room. I like the side load. It is pretty easy to load, because it has a lot of room in the firebox. I don't really need to clean the glass very often because whenever you run the stove hot it cleans itself. But when I do, it is easy to clean (except getting behind the andirons is a bit tough). Overall I am VERY happy with my stove. It has a cooktop with burners for three different temperatures. It is extremely well made, and has excellent customer service. In addition, its the only stove that I am aware of that has a six month money back guarantee. The only downside is that there are no local dealers. I have never looked at a Lopi, but I found the PH to be higher quality in craftsmanship compared to the Mansfield, which I looked into buying. Also, the ash pan on the PH is probably several times larger that the Mansfield.
