I am hoping to someday have a orchard on my land, next time I move. Fruit tress-- the gift that keeps on giving.

Fruits trees won't give you very much firewood. When a tree dies you nay get a day or two, when u prune them you may get a weeks worth if you have acres and acres of them but that will be a lot of work to cut small diameter stuff up.

My wood truck will haul a cord and gets 6 mpg. I can't drive very far before it doesn't pay. Fortunately it's only 18 miles one-way to our woodcutting area.

Its not uncommon to go 75 miles one way out here in the West.

I found a someone local on the way home from work that says he has about 12 logs a mix of pine maple and oak that hes giving away Hopefully I can check it out tomorrow and it turns out to be good.

Same situation here but a little closer, 200 feet would probably put me in front of the house behind me.

I need to find me a tree service like that
