Just received the Attach DPX 45 Profi and have an older house with an existing mono-flow radiator system, single thermostat and single circulator pump. Any ideas or suggestions for hooking up to this system? I am new to this as this is my first indoor wood boiler.

Welcome to Hearth.com! Now for the questions:

What do you have for existing heating equipment? How will you be venting your Attack? Any pics of the existing stuff?

You will need to have some type of return protection for the Attack 149F is the lowest return water you can give it. With a large single zone monoflow system, I assume you have either convectors or CI radiators and either of those will give a good long slug of cold water back to the boiler when there is first a call for heat.

We love pics here!

This is the old furnace setup. Monoflow system. You can see expansion tank and 1 pump. I have CI Radiators. Any suggestions on exactly how to hook up new furnace, such as what parts I might need. I am not doing thermal storage this season.......I am going to install it next spring.
Thanks!

You will need some type of return protection with a monoflow system with relitively large water volume.

Are you venting this through a masonry chimney, one shared with the gas boiler?

I have no expierence with other boilers and idleing, but I can tell you the Attack does not idle well for very long. I would NOT recommend useing it w/o some type of storage.

Do you have some good dry wood for the winter stacked up yet? Preforably two year seasoned stuff, I discovered for the first 5 or so burns you need really dry wood to dry out the lower refractory, as others have all expierenced as well.

Yes, I am venting through the masonry chimney, by its self. The gas boiler will no longer be there or in use.
I do have good 2 yr seasoned wood.

I am not able to do thermal storage this heating season. I was told by the guy at New Horizon where I purchased the Attack that I did not need to do thermal storage this season but I would have to load the stove more. I plan on having thermal storage ready for next heating season.

Do you have any suggestion on a good protection source for the return on my monoflow system? The guy at New Horizon sent me a part list and it has a Danfoso 3 way thermostatic valve listed as suggested parts or would a termovar loading unit be better? or anRegumat Attack Oventrop be best?

All of this is completely new to me so any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I have down plenty of plumbing , ect but never hooked up this type of heating system.

How do you like the Attack? Any other users you know of? Can't beat the price? Does this unit pull the smoke up when chamber is opened

EWD has one, but his is the older DP model.

The suction fan will not pull all the smoke up the chimney in my setup. I'm installing a draft hood..........that said with a piece of hardie board and clever door opening you can pretty much eliminate smoke. I don't open the door unless I have to.
