"In the last twenty-four hours I have been banned from groups with no
explanation. If any one has had this experience, enlighten me. I have
not violated any rules, nor even posted in a week or more and was only
passing on good information on the site, not negative or aggressive.
This is the third group ban I have had in the last week."

The above was posted to all the Yahoo Groups I belong to after I was banned from two groups and a third in another forum. Has anyone else had this happen. I have had no warning, and no explanation from the group/site owners. Same as the treatment from the BI site.

Clearly, you've ticked off the cabal. :)

Clearly hope I have not ticked off this CABAL. What a powerful and positive group. We complain and nip at each other, but we are a powerful force. Spent the last few hours reading the curent threads on IB. Clearly the storm troopers got the attention (those who are banned) but the last several posts from each of our members have been thoughtful and well researched. With few exceptions there seems to be a sympathetic major shift in the tone and attitude over there.

I haven't been kicked out yet, so I think the moderators of Hearth.com are rather forgiving, or have thick skin.

On this board, and others, the top three reasons for being kicked out is:

1. Personal or threatening Attacks
2. Trollish Behavior
3. Excessive posting of items not germane to the group/thread

Now, go back and think.....

Sandor:
In two cases none of the above apply in the least. I have offered support and solutions for problems. Even referred people to this site and individuals who are members. In the third, I will admit my posts were not kind, but were not untrue. I fought the good fight. Got a little out of control, but a hush would have stopped the rant. I am really concerned that my ID has been compromised and I have no recourse. On this site, if weird posts start popping up with my signature, I have not had a psychic break, they are not my post, but unless someone lets me know personally, I can't do anything about it. To stop the conspiracy nuts, I don't think it's a Cause, I think it's personal.

Change you pass word Often. stealth the net without broadcasting you IP address

... and wear a tin-foil hat :)

Rich-
Have you tried smearing chunky peanut butter on your thighs? Chunky......NOT the creamy variety? Goes pretty well with that tinfoil hat.

It's not the tin-foil hat that bothers me so much, it's where they told me to mount the antenna that sounds like a problem.....No wonder these people always seem angry about something.....

Good one MrGriz!!! Try this, take all the self addressed/stamped junk mail you recieve...put the "other" groups name on it and send it back...They can block the spam but the mailbox will be filled with spectacular offers!!! Really, who banned you the Yahoo Gods?

Not sure who did the banning but it was two Yahoo groups.

UncleRich,

On this one I agree with you...I was also banned from the BI site. The site "knows" things such as e-mail addresses, log-ons, etc and uses them to prevent future access from the same machine and some information even blocks us from even getting to the site (i.e., I couldn't even view the posts until I got back on another way). Do you suppose some of the other sites you were banned from are also owned by this same guy?

Here's info on how to get a new account.......it worked for me and I'm back on BI:

1) using a different computer than the one you were using when you were first banned, go to their site and register using another name, a different password and give it a different e-mail address

2) pull up that e-mail account (from this same different computer) and click on the link they sent you to activate your new account.

3) Now you can access the BI site from this NEW computer

4) Now that you have your new account, if you you want to go back to your old computer, you'll be blocked and your new account will also be deactivated unless you use an anonymizer. This is because the BI site knows your IP address from your old computer, knows it banned that IP address earlier and also bans your new account. To get around this, you type in the following in your OLD computer:

http://anonymizer.nntime.com/

and in the box at this site, type in "burningissues.org" and it will take you to their site and allows you to sign-on using your new account because the IP address the anonymizer presents to the BI site is NOT one that BI has previously associated with you and your having been banned...... so it works......

let me know if this helps......it worked for me and I'm back on.......

P.S. sorry for the PM's yesterday...we were both a bit off-the-deep-end......LOL

May be able to shed some light on who that "Mary" woman is who wants to ban all wood stoves. Go here to the BI "about us" link:

http://burningissues.org/car-www/aboutus.html

and scroll down and see who the founder is of BI........Mary.......... how much you want to bet it's the same "Mary" who wants to ban all wood stoves????
