I'm moving wood to the front porch and have uncovered some "puffs" of a brown woolie
stuff, spotting pieces of the wood. It comes off easily; kinda like fine brown wool. What have I "discovered?" Do I need to be alarmed?

Sounds like a fungus amoungus. Season it an burn it. Call it bonus BTU's.

Does it spit venom? Could be a triffid.

Thank goodness I was able to stop the arrival of the HAZMAT team before being totally humiliated! Stuff looks like it would add some nice insulation to my socks,

Thanks! Now no more excuses to not move wood, Oh well..."yes, dear. I'll be right there."

not sure what the name of it is without an internet search, but it's just a common fungus that grows on dead wood....I get it from time to time, nothing to be alarmed about at all...

Could be Gypsy Month egg masses.. it's about the right time of year for those.

Probably a spore from a meteor storm, it will consume your flesh, SORRY I couldn't help it :)

Touchthewindrider, are those grubs in that picture? They look like a local variant of a worm that spins little silk nests (usually out in bushes though).

This thread is a year and a half old....I doubt the OP or others are here to respond since the aliens got them all.;)
