Just today I found my splitter. Not that I was looking for it, but was startled to see it lurking amoungst a pile of Hickory rounds. I really had no idea it was there. Guilt forced me to put the tarp back over it. That Hickory is piled there for 1.5 years now. Pretty sure it was a victim of Irene. Other side of the wood area has more Hickory and a ton of Cherry. The Cherry is only sitting there 9 months or so. I am down to about 20 or so cords in the stacks, so not too worried about upcoming burns. I won't mess with these rounds until the weather kills off the spideys. Just sayin.

Okay, I'll fess up too. I normally have the wood all stacked in early or mid April.

This is way past that point as I didn't get it all split until into May.

And this is all that is stacked so far.

You're just trying to make those guys feel better. What year or decade do you plan on burning that wood?

That right there is the key to this game. Despite wandering in the wilderness for 17 months, I'm still 2 potentially 3 years ahead. Gives you time to get back on track before committing the ultimate sin of burning less than ideal fuel.

Not sure Jack. Just not sure. We have plenty.

As long as it doesn't have Moxie in it.

I'm sure you must have stopped trying to induce vomiting by now . . . I mean it was well over two years ago since you tried it. It really is good though . . . just an acquired taste.

Since we're confessing, I too have sinned today. I was supposed to be splitting the rounds indicated by the red arrow, but on a morning hike I fund some dead-and-downed white oak for which I grabbed the quad and saw.:) So in the spirit of more wood is better I abandoned the splitting plans. :)stacks.jpg

I got wood to process but, it is taking a back burner to a new wood burner ::P

Well, well, well... here I though it was only I who wasn't making wood for the past while. My story - it IS true, I swear - our son and daughter in law bought an old house in February and Mrs AJ and I have spent MANY weekends helping them to strip and refurbish it. A lot of work, especially when you don't really know what you're doing! Anyway they're in and expecting their first child at the end of August. I'm looking forward to that, and some wood making as soon as the weather cools a bit. The good news is I have enough for the 13-14 season all ready C/S/S, so I'm not sitting too bad.
