Was at newf lovers house, this was her p68 firing up for the upcoming season...stoves a bit oversized for the house so she creo's up in the late shoulder seasons from idling.

Would the creasote be from poor air flow? What config is the venting?

That is not a good installation, I bet 3 vertical feet on the inside of the house would work alot better. Also 4" diameter. I rebuilt a P61 that went straight out and it was not oversized and really creasoted up on the inside. Did you fail that install on your inspection sheet? ? ?

Here is an installation I corrected. Plugged the straight out and then did the inside up and out!

Are you the same "Don" who built a hearth pad out of plywood?

Raised hearth pads are made out of 2x4s or 2x6s with 3/4" plywood for strength with cement board on top for porcalin tiles for fire protection. What is your question?
 
Hey Scott,

So it's oversized, so I'm guessing shes running automatic ignite / room temperature mode?
Would running the stove in manual prevent creosote build up?

I haven't experienced any yet, but just curious. I know my 68 is only running probably at 30-50% capacity @ 2-3 bags a day @ -40, it don't take long at full blast to heat the place up (I set back so I love it)
 
Don has had some posts that are very helpful and others, well, perhaps maybe not so much.

Maybe I am the only one, but I long for the days when every topic wasn't what Don and Scott are doing today...maybe in another month or two we will go back to normal.

In the meantime can someone start another beer thread?? I need to figure out what I am drinking tonight. :)

Newf lovers install is fine. There is no vertical but it's great and has an oak. The problem wasn't always a problem. Back when the house wasn't insulated the was no low temp burns going on. Now that they have a well insulated house running a P68, well the thing can heat the house on idle. Stove temp for a day burns it out. It's all good. No problems to report. And let's all try and get along. You guys will see a lot less of me coming soon so the don/scott threads will pitter away as real problems from forums newbies arrive.

Not gonna tell you! They are already moved to my basement, and they are guarded by a 145 pound Newfie. Never mind she would just lick you if you talked nice to her. Back to beer. After all that work, I am drinking a Blue Moon. Now have 5 ton, so I am an official pellet pig.

You are right. Yes runny it a while on stove temp will clear it right up.

Good choice of pellets, good choice in beer and good choice in dog. My sister is getting a Newfie in a few weeks. I think she said it will be 9 weeks old and 25 lbs lol

My newf is a female, got her when she was 9 weeks old. Weighed about 13 pounds at 9 weeks, at 15 weeks 36 pounds, and at 1 year 120 pounds. They are great dogs; I'm sure she will enjoy hers.
