Don't pay a lot of attention to the Wooly Bears unless they are native ones, a couple years ago they told me a big fib, turns out they were from away.
Judging from your sig, Smokey, I would think you would be on the prowl for another mother load pellet infusion....

Our apples are just about ripe - much earlier than usual.

I'm fed up with my Simplicity snow blower, have been looking at Husqvarna tracked blowers. The Ariens dealer doesn't stock them, as they don't sell many. They don't sell many because they don't stock them. Catch 22 there.

Pellet stash is only 3 bags - gotta get busy, but waiting for (hopefully!) prices to drop. But, stove is cleaned and painted and ready to go.

Wow I thought simplicity's were top of the line. I have a cub cadet now and not overly impressed with it. Walk behind snowblowers quality have gone downhil from what they once were hard to find a machine with cast iron gearbox and heavy duty components!!!

I have a walk behind 1978 small Toro that still runs, its only use here would be to clear a walking path from the back deck to the driveway and then only if the bigger machine was out to lunch. Its only downfall is wet snow and the fact it has a small engine.

Now about them that were originally from Maine, moved away, and came back. We say those ones finally came to their senses but we aren't quite sure if they are woods ready yet.

7 tons plus should be able to handle the load. Besides I'm going to do a bit of work in a couple of spots that should work on that ole heat loss figure.

True, but you burn 5 tons a year!! You'll be approaching the danger zone by the end of the season....

2 words: Honda/ Expensive

But they run really well ! I have the 28" track model. That thing will climb a mountain and the hydro drive is the balls ! If you look at them, dont think about the electric starter-you dont need it.

I'll be approaching my normal bunkering time and will have had a chance to rearrange my garage about then. Hell as it stands now I have a little issue with doing some work I want to do in the garage. So I'll let the stash go low and finish the work.

I also have a full tank of #2 fuel oil if push ever came to shove and I can always do 15 bags a time in the jalopy if needed.

As for the danger zone I crossed that when I went below 10 ton and developed the shakes ;).

Withdrawal can be tempered by knowing there is an ample supply of pellets available locally. What is not known is what impact this storm in the Middle East will have on the pellet price point.

New sheer bolts in the snow blower and the oil has been changed.

I just watched a video where someone's impeller gearbox split apart when he hit something. The points were two: make sure you're using the correct shear bolt, and make sure the augers turn freely on the shafts. Best way to tell is to remove the shear bolts and see if the auger turns easily. Shoot some oil or grease in there to prevent rust. The one in the video was rusted solid to the shafts, and it took a fire wrench and a large pipe wrench to free things up. My machine has grease fittings on the auger so I can shoot grease right in between the auger and the shafts.

Just sayin'.

I am on my second one. My first is about 16 years old and still in service...sold it to my neighbor after the auger shaft broke from a large rock jam 5 years ago. Funny, it was a rock at his driveway, then I sold it to him as is for 200.00. Had proper shear bolts, but it was a large rock buried in the snow from their mailbox garden. We share a driveway entrance, needless to say, I don't go near that area any more.

Like I said, they are not cheap but IMO the best out there.

Ask Al Gore ..

Already seeing some trees starting to lose their leaves in our mountains. Looks like it is going to be a chilly winter. Sure am glad that we installed the wood stove over the summer :)
