I know most of you are years ahead, but, there are a lot of "new" people here. And a lot either have just started collecting wood this year, or don't have room to store years in advance. So, to all those who aren't fortunate enough to have the room, or have just started burning wood. How close are you to being done C/S/S ing for the year, and ready to burn?

I am hoping that this is the last of my 10 cord goal. If it isn't, it will be very close.
Now, I just have to split and stack, then, onto finishing the lawn before the snow flies.

I finally got three years ahead this year. I still have about 1 cord of wood that I need to cut to size and split. But I'm ready to burn!

I am hoping to get to 11 cord by the time winter hits, but I am no longer collecting for this year.

I'm four years ahead, and close to working on my 5th year......it's just gettin' ridiculous now.....
Gonna start hoarding it up in my FIL's hollow, maybe sell a little next summer. The tree work keeps stacking up and the wood is coming in like crazy.......

At any rate, the best thing you can do as a woodburner is get three years ahead. We preach it all the time. That, of course, depends on your storage space. If you can do it, you will be amazed at how good that three year seasoned wood burns......

My goal is to have so much wood that I am nominated by my neighbors to appear on an episode of "Doomsday Preppers." :)

My goal is to make my brother's pile look "cute."

Yes, I am trying to get three years ahead. But honestly, I don't know what 3 years wood is yet. I'll have to figure that out come spring. With 10 cord, I should at least have 2 years, I hope.

I need to get a couple more cords to fill my quota. That will finish filling my woodshed and one extra cord sitting on the outside.
We use up the extra cord first as it starts to get cold and just split it as we need it.

It should look something like this picture below from last October.

I have about 4 cords c/s/s but dont have my stove yet so does that count for me being ahead? Lol I am planning on this being the last winter I heat with electric. Hopefully that will give me time to get another 4-6 cords c/s/s by next winter.

Good goal! We're gearin up to have our annual yard sale next weekend......and I have to laugh when the people come up on our side deck and see my 30 cord stack in the backyard.....they can't believe I have all that firewood!
30 cord! Call that insurance, self insured. ;)

Great thread, I just put the last split on this year's pile last night, which felt GREAT. Only 4 cords, but they're honest cords, have dried really nicely in the last few months, and should get me through the winter. I dropped the trees this last winter, and got the first stacks going in February. I wish I was three year's ahead, but this hand splitting is taking a while. I hope to have at least two more cords stacked for next years' stacks before October ends, and someday will be years ahead like the rest of you guys. Hanging out here is inspiring, that's for sure.

I am about 40% done with the wood for 15/16. Expect to be done through 16/17 before winter is over. This is assuming 5 cord/season.

My wife was a government contractor and we having been accused of my wife working for Home Land Security and knowing what's coming. I'm sure glad we are in the loop::-)

13-14 done and 2+ years dry, 14-15 done and 2years dry, 15-17done, drying, I have lost track of the total some where around 40 cord. time to start 17-18 with a possibility of score very close. Question is where to put it. By spring I will have room. My 4'deepx5' high splits fence is half way around my 3/4 acre lot now. Pics not in this box. maybe later. This years winter supply will be willow, silver maple, box elder, paper birch for shoulder, sugar maple, oak, hickory for colder portion. 50% of 14-15 and beyond at present is honey locust. Got to put the new door seals on nc30 yet. Maybe its time to enter the fray and sell some?

Three years ahead here. When the weather cools some, the cutting and splitting will be to replenish what dry wood fuel gets staged for this coming winter. Same thing next year. So, I'm never done splitting.

I just started back in February but I have almost 9 cord c/s/s most of which has been since late April. Probably not going to be 100% ready for burning but it's what I have and I'll make it work. Should be good for next season and with my current wood connections I should be able to scrounge up another 10 cord by mid winter. My goal is to be three years ahead of the game or more. Next step is investing in a decent splitter!

4-5 years ahead here.Back up to not quite 17 cords total now.In past month or so added 3 more p/u loads to my stash.About 2/3rds dead White Oak,remainder dead Shagbark Hickory. That hasn't been split or stacked yet.Have a couple more smaller dead Shagbarks to drop, may get them Saturday if its not too hot.

I have so much wood that even I am almost starting to believe all the people that see it tell me that it is going to rot. However, I have already identified my winter's work and have no plans to stop.
