Was at Safeway shopping tonight and just inside the door they had a 6 foot high by 8 foot wide wall of Hostess Twinkies! Yum yum yum... I grabbed a box and got my shopping done, and I started eating the Twinkies on my way home (a 30 minute drive). I ate three, and then I ate two more after I got home. I have not had any since Hostess went belly up. I was not aware that they were back until today. I do not normally eat them, and it was an impulsive thing. I mean, they were gone for good for a while. Now they are resurrected. Reading the ingredients on the box here... its pure refined starch, sugar and all the artificial flavoring and coloring that are known to man. I think I am going to be up until 4am from the sugar and artificial ingredient rush I am having, and then I will likely have a hangover tomorrow.

But man, do I feel GOOD! I think I will have another one now. Um um um.... I will get a good head start on my holiday stomach this year <pat pat pat>. Damn store manager, taking advantage of all the unsuspecting customers like that. Putting a wall of Twinkies up for all of us to pass by. Who can resist that? Oh man, I think I need a beer chaser now. I am not going to get any sleep tonight. May as well play on the computer for a while... 4 more Twinkies left in the box, I do not think that they are going to last until morning. Though a Twinkie or two for breakfast sounds good. May as well OD on them now and get it over with. Then I will go into a diabetic coma tomorrow and sleep until noon. I have the day off tomorrow anyway. Man, what a buzz. There are 39 separate ingredients in these things. Wheat, yah, I know what that is. I wonder what monoglycerides are? Sorbic acid? That is derived from natural gas, I think. The cellulose gum, Polysorbate 60, and calcium sulfate taste great. Whatever they are. And Red Dye #40 and Yellow dye #5. I think they are both implicated in a lot of heath issues. Something about making kids express compulsive and ADD behavior. Well, I seem to be expressing compulsive ADD behavior myself now. What the hell am I writing about? Oh yes, Twinkies... and the buzz from eating a half a box of them. And what the fork is in them. But now they are in me. How Zen. Zen and the art of eating Twinkies. That will be the name of my great American novel. May as well start writing that tonight... I am not going to get any sleep.

But hey, life only comes around once, and you may as well over indulge now and then... eh?

Do you like Twinkies?

I think the OP is a "poser". He really has no interest in twinkies whatsoever...;)
I can polish off a whole box in about 20 minutes...but I like them refrigerated. :D

That's because we don't sleep jagsy!! :p

I hate twinkies. I love the creme filled chocolate cupcakes.

I believe they are called Ding Dongs...I like them too...

They actually have three variants...cupcakes, Ho Ho's, and Ding dongs. In my mind (and mouth) they're interchangeable.

for whatever reason, I am not a fan of the "swiss cake roll" which is similar.

Yeah, I tried some Little Debbie somethings and maybe a couple of other copycats, but they just weren't the same. Haven't yet tried a Hostess product since they got back into production...sure hope they're the same as they always were.

Well, they look and taste exactly the same to me.

They had some Ding Dongs next to the Twinkies, and supposedly the entire line is being re-introduced. I never ate that many Twinkies before the bakers went on strike and took out Hostess for good. They are good deep fried though. My first experience with these packaged treats were Sno-Balls. First rack pair I ate was at the Seattle World's Fair in '61. A mammary memory for a lifetime...

Yes, I admit it. I am an imposter and I actually work for Little Debbie products spamming the internet with Twinkie posts.

I had all but forgotten about Twinkies and was eating Little Deb Swiss Rolls, but they are not the same as Ho-Hos. Smaller and less chocolate frosting on them, not as creamy. Twinkies are all fluff and no frill. And no chocolate, which is what I am really after in a junk food fix.

I was thinking about insulating my shop with Twinkies. They are full of air, totally rot and insect resistant.

Eat up! Hostess was bought by Apollo Global Management which recently bought the division of Pitney Bowes I work for....chow down and enjoy :)

Oh, and a few of the guys that work for me eat them sort of frozen if you want to try something new (or weird)

I don't buy stuff like this but ran into a similar "wall of temptation" last night at the grocery store...pumpkin pie pop tarts, they should be against the law they are so flippin' good but I figured at 400 calories, I'd rather have that than a candy bar or something!

I'm gonna be all over them Pop Tarts! Like white on rice. I need to bulk up for winter anyways.

Be sure to pick up a six pack of pumpkin ale to wash them down with.

Never really cared for Twinkies all that much, even as a child. But those pink coconut Snowball things & chocolate Ho-Ho's were great.

When I heard that twinkies were going to be discontinued, I almost tried one so that I knew what they were like.

I think now I'll wait until the next time they go down the pooper.

Isn't that where they all end up? >>

My wife had a supervisor that had to have his Twinkie at his desk every morning.
