Hi folks,
The diesel tank on my 9hp Yanmar log splitter engine sprang a leak this weekend. The tank looks like the one in the attached image.

The diesel just pours out of it to the point its not usable until I fix it.

I found a tank on Ebay but the price is ridiculous.

The tank has a seam and it appears to be leaking at the seam at the bottom of the tank.

Any ideas on repairing it?

I have a 10 hp yanmar clone and I remember seeing $40 fuel tanks on ebay only a few months ago. But if your exact one is too much, I'd take it off, empty out the remaining fuel, dry the fuel residue up , wire wheel the paint off, and then mix up some JB weld or epoxy and put over the seam where the leak is.
I used the same method on my 500 gallon diesel tank here at the house and its held for 4 years now.

Search "yanmar fuel tank" on ebay and you'll get 46 hits, a few of which are what u are looking for and less than $50

There are epoxy products that coat the inside of the tank to seal up minor leaks like that and prevent rust. Very common in antique tractor circles. I'm not recalling any product names at the moment but searching fuel tank coating or fuel tank epoxy sealer should yield results.

Thanks. I asked one of the EBay venders if the L100 tanks will fit my L90 motor and I'm waiting on a reply. They look the same and they are cheaper but I don't know if they are interchangeable.

The only one listed as specifically for the L90 coming out of the USA was almost $100 including shipping. A lot of the listings were out of England. These must be more common over the pond.

I found a discussion on some tractor forum via Internet search that highly recommended a product called Seal ALL. It's listed in one of the local auto parts stores so I will probably try that first.

I've had good results with JB Water Weld.

I was gonna say I have seen those on eBay before. Bit if there $100 I would coat the tank!!

I ended up buying one on EBay for a Yanmar L100 for $40 plus $10 shipping. I decided it was worth it for the sake of simplicity and a definite fix to just replace it. It was a direct swap which I figured out by researching part numbers from the various models. I got the old tank torn off and the fuel petcock and internal fuel filter swapped out and the new tank put on tonight.

Advanced auto parts has a fuel tank repair kit. It is a 2 part epoxy made for fuel. I believe it is under $10.
