Just did two loads of maple from a friends house in town. Tree guy is also a friend and had the guys cut to 24in for me(although a couple are actully 27. ugh). First shot is one load and the second is what is left of the first tree after two trips. Oh yeah. 1 more suger and 2 swamp maples to come down Monday.

Nice Jason. By swamp maples, may we assume you mean soft maple?

I am still new to wood game, but the arborist and another friend called then swamp maple. The stuff I got today was sugar.
Tim- I have 16 CSS already, but plan to do some more splitting a few weeks. Just happy to get the rounds

Good stuff, that red maple! get 'er split up and get us a pic......you know how it is around here!!

Nice looking rounds - I don't see a single Knott or branch in those pics. That should make for pleasant splitting. Good catch!

Just looked it up. Acer rubrum (Red Maple, also known as Swamp, Water or Soft Maple), is one of the most common and widespread deciduous trees of eastern North America.

Thanks CT. We've always just called it soft maple and I'd never heard it called swamp maple. We have lots of it here.

Know this is an older thread, but a load of swamp maple just got offered to me. Wanted to get an idea of how the splitting went with this. Anyone know the BTU value?

Btu rating is roughly 20.0 mbtu per cord. Looking at the pics and my maple experience. I'm going to venture that the splitting went smoothly. Rating charts and tree characteristics may vary.
