The city had a private contractor trims trees just on our road just a block away from our house. Obviously being a wood fanatic, I watched them. All the branches were little ones they threw in the chipper, UNTIL they came upon a couple ash. As they brought down a few big branches I ran down and asked about the wood. Hearing they didn't care if I snagged the big stuff I ran back and grabbed my truck and three ice cold Mountain Dews.

I thought it was a cheap price to pay for a truck bed full of ash!

Like that mountain dew commercial- the last diet dew for the race car. Hey, 3 mountain dews for wood, waaayyy better!

Great way to get firewood schlot. I'll bet the dews were appreciated too. Good on you for giving it to them.

The land I process at is getting pretty stacked with wood now. But with 90s this weekend and lawns to be mowed, it's going to have to wait.

Yeah the guys weren't expecting the pop so on a muggy hot day I knew they'd like it. Everyone deserves a Dew!

I think you guys are right, maybe I can head up some marketing campaign for Mountain Dew. How's this sound "Mountain Dew - the official pop of the Wood Hoarders Club"?

We have a strange forecast. Next Tuesday is forecast to be 94! If so, I'm thinking that would be the highest temperature for us this year. Thankfully, only one day of it.

That's got to be high for you guys!

Ya, I'd have to look back at July but I don't think we've got that high. I do remember several days of 90-92 but my memory banks are overloaded or simply have quit working properly...

I hear you. I don't mind a beer once in a while and I've never got into coffee. Dew is my wake up call in the morning.

Good stuff - don't be surprised if you get some mystery firewood dropped off at your place when that contractor is working in the area. Good call on the refreshing "pay back"

I literally CANNOT FUNCTION without a coffee or two in the morning......LITERALLY.....
Not a real big fan of soda here....the fizz bothers my stomach (bloated and belching all day if I drink it), wifey keeps a gallon of homemade sweet tea in the fridge year-round, that's how I get my buzz from caffeine when not drinking coffee.

And I love beer, but it doesn't love me back! So I've been hittin' the Angry Orchard lately, and I REALLY love that stuff.....
Still drink Yuengling Lager once in a while.....that's my favorite beer ever!!

Schlot, good score on the ash. And good on you for takin' care of the guys. That simple gesture may pay off big time down the road!

I got the angry orchard variety pack. Cinnful apple is some good shiznit

x2 on the no coffee - no function in the AM. I am a bit of a coffee snob and have a home roaster. I buy my green coffee beans from micro farms around the world and have total control of the entire process. If you have never had truly good coffee - and I am not talking Starbucks - you may discover you like it. Like firewood, longbows and playing with steel at the forge - this is just another hobby turned obsession for me. But I digress, this is not the place or thread to get long winded about my witches brew!

Bob I would definitely try it. I love the way coffee smells, it just tastes awful to me?? It does smell good. I even think folders in the steel can smells good??

Can't promise I would like it but I would definitely try it

And for us, 94 Tuesday and 61 Friday. Its going to be a roller coaster week. You can bet there won't be much done on Tuesday around here.

Scott, I used to be the same way with coffee. Then came the prostate problem and I have not had any coffee since. Once is a long while I'll think about one but can easily get along without it. I do partake of the colas and used to drink my share plus 2 or 3 others but no longer do much of that. Stomach problems can cure you of many things you used to eat and drink.

Bob, we used to roast our own beans. Used to be very good but we are having having trouble finding good beans. Ethiopian Hooray was my favorite, but can't get those now.
Nothing better than free Ash Schlot.
