nice jump on this years wood gathering

Got most of the rest of the mulberry that was available down the road. Big one too. Had to half and quarter the rounds to lift them. First try with a sledge and wedge. Not too bad.

Got to test out the 2500 hd springs i put on last week to replace the broken 1500 spring. Small bed, but that mulberry I'd heavy. Had to be 1000lbs. No problem.

The splits in the back are what I've been working on the last two weeks.

Not a bad start.
 
Nice. That mulberry is some heavy wood. Burns great!

Wow, that's a big Mulberry! Most of the stuff I get is small stuff that's competed for light and lost out to taller trees.

Good looking stuff there......I have never had the pleasure of burning Mulberry.

Looks great! I've been pulling mulberry out of the tree dump at the county seat the last three trips. Unfortunately, we didn't get much last time and I believe we have exhausted the reserves.

Ditto. That's some pretty looking wood.

How does it smell?
My whole driveway hits me with that wonderful smell of free heat mixed with sweat. Priceless!

wow that is an impressive mulberry for sure! Great firewood, that mulberry.....
I have a couple small ones along the windrow on the farm, I'll wait til winter to get them. Both came down last fall from Sandy. Well Done, Pyro!!

Nice score of quality fire wood. Question: does anyone know how mulberry is for grilling meats/ steaks? I got some but stacked it with hickory for grilling.

I've not personally used it yet for smoking, but I read on smoking forums that it is an excellent wood for the smoker. A lot like apple, but not as "sweet", with a little earthy taste to it.....

I will be trying some this winter when I harvest the two blowdowns on the windrow across the field.......

Hav'nt had mulberry in years , its great stuff up there with red oak . on BTU'S cool thing is that it seasons faster ! enjoy :cool:
