I just put some wood for this winter in maybe 10 plastic trash cans with covers, only because I didn't have enough to do a whole row. I've done it before. Not very efficient, footprint-wise, but it's nice to move it into the gargage with a hand truck when the time comes. It'd be cool to do this on a larger scale, like the original poster, never mind even drying the wood in them.

Nice set up, I had a love affair with those totes too but they're too expensive around here, course I'd need a dingo to if I had totes.

oh, heck yeah...looks like air flows through nicely...

Great set up. Should dry well.
Great innovation ;ex

Easy to fill ......
How easy to empty ?
I'd get high centered reaching in for the splits on the bottom LOL ;lol

Yeah you cant reach the bottom. To empty I just dump them carefully on there side and then top and pick it strait up, It all falls out and then down the wood shoot to the wood box inside. Pat

Wood shoot/wood box
Your set up sounds better all the time ;)

Yeah I have an old post on here I think about the Woodshoot it's a piece of PVC 12 inch pipe cut in half and then the woodbox is a foldable shipping container that is roughly the same size as the metal cages and it sits in the basement right next to the stove well maybe 10 feet from the stove! Pat.

Hmmm?? Did not know that. Biggest I have seen is down the road from my place and has a bit of a trunk - maybe 6-10" but just one big ole bush and not a tree. I may have to cut some just to give it a try.

Just a guess but I think it will be very poor wood.
