My golf league was susposed to start last Wed but it got canclled due to 2" of snow and ice on the ground and sleeting
I know a lot of the heaing forum members are turning on AC. This is Spring and April,19 degrees this morning, Ground is frozen and signs of snow and ice still around
Still burning close to 24/7 but only in the main stove , but the past 2 nights the second stove was loaded up.

Hey Elk
No golf????
Sorry buddy, although I feel for ya, and I hate to see anyone going through the wierd weather the last few days but I have a difficult time feeling too sorry for you since the current temperature here is -3F (-16C) and with wind chill it is -13F (-25C) and over the last two days over two feet of snow has fallen, with another 10 inches supposedly coming today.

Might be golfing by the end of May. This link leads to a web-cam that is about 2 blocks from one of our local golf courses. Notice the snowbanks higher than the trucks? http://tinyurl.com/yqc76x

If you think that's bad it is 3 degrees above, and -10 F with the windchill here right now, 7:30 am. It has not been above freezing for over a week, with no end in sight until next week. Just to complicate matters we received a foot of new snow before the Winters snow had even melted off. Here in northern Minnesota Spring does not arrive unit the end of May and sometimes into June? I went fishing a few years back in mid June and almost frooze to death. The campfire was not an optional need but a necessity. See picture that was taken 5 minutes ago. As you can see the stove is still going and will be for a couple of months?

this weather is crap! last week highs in the mid 80s and this week lows in the upper teens.
2 weeks ago(when it was in the 70s) i moved my leftover wood back to the fencerow.
i'm regretting that brilliant decision now as i'm burning what little was left in the woodbox inside and
letting the furnaces run.
:(

I feel your pain. Same weather here. I was looking to put my boat and dock in this week since the ice went out on the lake about a week ago with all the warm weather. I wish the weather would make up it's mind.

Not lovin it either but what can ya do?
Last week I put the battery in and started
up the boat, then went for a ride on my
scoot. Granted it was only in the 60's,
but I was hoping that was the beginning
of a warming trend. Guess not. Zeta sticks
nose out of cave and says "4 more weeks
of running stove".
Sorry about your delayed golf game Elk.

The inconvenient truth is its friggin cold outside when it is supposed to be warmer.

Somewhat cold here too....on Tue it was 78F and I rushed to mow the grass for the first time because it was long and ratty looking and I knew it was going to get cold and that I wouldn't want to mow for the next 10 days. Sure enough, on Wed morning the temp fell drastically and while not too awfully cold, it will be chilly for the next 10 days here in the Dayton, OH area: lows range from 20-44F and highs 44-60F with some snow flurries but nothing that accumulates. Burned the Jotul C450 insert last night and it kept the front room and dining room a toasty 76F and the back room and kitchen 71 or 72F even though I only had it going for a few hours.

Could be worse. Painsdale, MI: 38" snow and 20" more expected through Sunday. Ah, Spring. Same thing happens most years...just not quite to this extreme though. I heard people were getting lawn mowers ready. We won't consider it before May.

I would expect worse in a place named Painsdale ;)

Got the old dock torn down and new one installed last week when it was in the upper 70's and did a little fishing.
Now it's going down to mid teens tonight.

Two words:

Moving Van

One word - Mexico ;-)

(on a hwy to be provided to you soon)

52 now, promising about 75 today. I'll be out planting potatoes this afternoon.

Yeah, it's cold up here in New England.

All you folks that wanted to move here for the charm - my suggestion is to stay where you are! Yes, it's always cold and cloudy and the beach is made of rocks. So take my advice, stay right there in NYC, Jersey or where ever you live now - it's definitely warmer and better.

Yesterday was great, 70 outside, so I hopped on the tractor and brushhogged the backyard. It's still a little muddy for my 4500 lb lawnmower but the whole area will be graded once it dries out so ruts are no problem.

I set up the fire for this morning since I knew it would cool off overnight. It was 63 in the house when I woke up and only 52 outside so I lit off the fire to get it warm. I have no doubt though that the wife has let it die by now though.

The UP of Michigan (where Painesdale is, and where I grew up and my parents live) has been and is still getting several feet of snow this week, primarily lake effect snow from Lake Superior. This is due to cold north winds coming across a relatively warm lake. Now, what should hit the AP wire today but the following:
Lake Superior Warming
Daily air temps come and go, but the trend of this gigantic thermal mass and the air around it is up.

I grew up in Northwest Jersey. Owned 2 homes there. They don't PRINT enough money for me to live there again!
Sure it's cold right now. But somehow spring comes every year. But I've seen it snow on Mother's day up here too. So this is nothing unusual.

Cloudy windy and still below freezing here on Easter Sunday. 31 degrees at 10:30 AM wind chills in the teens
Cleanned out both stoves this morning and fired them up. Mother nature is being quite cruel
Today.. I'm going out and process some more wood before the company arrives

It was 20 when I left the house a little while ago... stopped into the office to wrap up some things (at least its quiet here today), and the temp is nearly 40 in Northampton (Heat wave!!!!). Looks like we're going to have this little cold snap into next week.

Happy Easter to all!

I may get tarred and feathered for this. Don't care. I would be more than happy to compare notes on life challenges.

But fer crissakes... stop whining. We are experiencing sub unseasonable freezing temps too. Get over it. I could not be happier. My missus and I drove to a serious medical situation in a blinding snowstorm. So what. We loved it, because it was tight, tense, and adventure. And part of life which is by the way, not scripted. Jeepers... throw a damn log on the fire, hug your honey, and get warm. And stop whining. Be glad you can feel weather at all. Sorry folks, but weather is weather, and I am less than enamoured with whiners who rue the fact the life just hasn't cooperated with their schedule. Be very, very glad you can feel something at all... and stop whining.
