Feeling the Heat

Hello, my first choice was a Quadra-Fire CB 1200 to heat my 860 square ft. un-insulated cellar but one dealer refused to install, the other said I'm too far away and the only other two dealers have not returned my phone call. I am now looking into either a Harman P43 or the Lopi AGP. I just saw the Lopi today and I like it a little more over the P43 because of the larger hopper. They are rated pretty close as far as the BTUs and I like the look of both stoves so I'm just looking for best bang for the buck. Is anyone running the AGP in a cellar application that could chime in? I've read a few threads about the auger motor being under sized on the AGP but all other reviews have been solid. And as far as the P43 goes, that's a very solid and reliable stove for the money.

I run the Lopi AGP in my finished basement, and use it to heat my 2400 sq. ft. house. It's in the corner of the basement pointed toward the stairs (it's a high ranch / split level type) and with natural convection it keeps the upstairs pretty warm. We did have an issue with the the motor that controls the feed unit at the bottom of the hopper. There was a known issue with some of the early units from the factory where the motor was not strong enough and the feed unit would occasionally get stuck. The motor was replaced under warranty and Lopi re-started warranty date on my unit after the new motor was installed. I believe the newer units come from the factory with the upgraded motor, so definitely check that before you buy one.

I love the unit, it's been trouble free and easy to use since we had the motor replaced.

Travis units are very good.....I had an Astoria and "0" problems with it.

The dealer gave me a great deal on the Harman P61A so I'm going to buy it tomorrow, 61,000 BTUs of pure heat!!!!

Nice!! The P61a is an awesome stove and quite a bit heftier than the P43. You won't be disappointed in the extra available btus....

Nice stove. Should have NO problem whatsoever heating that space, and some of your house if you can find a way to get the heat up there.

It's a beast! I heat the rest of my house with wood so I don't need the heat to travel upstairs. Usually 80° on the main floor the entire winter. Nothing better than walking around in shorts in the house when it's 5° outside! The only problem is stepping over the dogs in front of the stove, they love the wood stove more than us....

I have 2 - P61a stoves, one just for backup!

Which dealer? A great deal?!

Which dealer? A great deal?!
Higgins Energy and yes, a great deal. I've been to every dealer within 50 miles and purposely didn't bother with Higgins because I went there last year for a wood stove and was not happy with the quote. I spoke to a really nice guy down there and he gave me a great deal on a beast of a pellet stove!
