Glass dirty at edges, is it normal ?

I'm not getting older I'm getting better.
Not as much crap on the glass , flames at top and bottom :)

fairly common

do a smoke check of the door and glass gaskets with an incense stick(while fire is going, trace around seals w/smoke)- its not possible to test the glass gasket w/dollar bill
Did the smoke test and no smoke was drawn in around door or glass

I'll admit ,did it on the old stove, damper wide open, oh no, what's that smell !!! I smelled it before smoke alarm went off
 
Looks like you are doing fine. It just takes time. The best thing you are doing is asking those with more experience than yourself.
