I love fall for many reasons, fires in the stove and especially bow season! Anyone else share my passion?

I'm after this guy. He's got me all fired up. Found the matching set last week. IMG_20130915_104710_642-1.jpg

Yep, I'm looking forward to fall.

My wood shed is stacked with 3.5 cords and my bow is ready. I know a little sweet grandma that is a canning fanatic. Hopefully I will learn about canning venison this fall.

ya me to. nothing better than cool crisp mornings in a tree stand or duck blind. The hounds always seem to run better as well.

Love Autumn!! Everything about it.
Don't hunt, but will shamelessly cozy up to hunters to get some free meat.

I can't believe I just said that.;em

Anyway, I LOVE venison and other wild game. It is my traditional October 31 supper!

how close do you cozy up?

close enough to offer an apple pie, but far enough away to avoid unwashed hunter scent.()

I always figured they washed up to avoid having the animals sniffing them out.

That is, unless garlic steeped jerky is their blind food of choice.

Some friends of mine who have been married 35 years decided to rekindle one of their old activities - and go camping on the VA shore next week. Next thing you know, she's posting all over Facebook about the vast amounts of gear they need to buy to do it!

I should tell them "get a room".....

Here's part of a quote:
"Camping takes an overwhelming amount of stuff and preparation....and I was surfing the big "DO IT!" wave~~~~~~
Attitude adjustment taken....
putting away the stove, fuel, mattress, sleeping bags, lanterns, flashlight ,(taking just one) hammer, camping plates, flatwear, dishes, etc.
Same clothes, food, cutting board and knife, water..."

Hmmm....primitive camping is your friend, eh?

I know myself far to well to start bow hunting but can't wait for it all to get here! Good luck!

Canning venison, just need jars, broth (not gravy, flour is evil when canning) and a pressure canner! Go nuts and make stews and chili with it too, yum!
