I have a top down fire loaded in the stove and getting ready to watch a movie in front of a hot fire. Third day in a row. 12c right now with lows of 0. I could turn the furnace on for a short blast but why......?

It almost hit 80 today so... No.

Good thing too, as i stilllllll don't have the stove back together. Soon. After I get all the honey do's done :)

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I still haven't cleaned the chimneys or the pellet puppy in the basement.

57 here, but like BB I still need to clean the flue. Maybe tomorrow. It looks like it is going to be a damp day after today's nice sunshine and warmth.

well, tonight's been a comedy of errors. The weather service had said it was going to get down to 17 tonight and I was excited to try out the super cedar samples. The weather service so far has been fibbing, there are clouds overhead and it hasn't gone lower than 30 (it's 2:am now), next, in my exuberance to see how 1/4 of a super cedar would start a fire I neglected to open the bypass (even though I glanced at it a few times it didn't click that one must pull it out for the smoke to go out, guess the super cedar mesmerised me), and it didn't help matters much that the barometer was 29 1/2 and still dropping, so of course the place filled up with smoke and had to open the windows (two of which are still open since I was looking for a nice crisp night to really try it out). Of course I wasn't none too happy when my neighbour decided to see what would happen if he adjusted the air intake, but won't hold a grudge as I likely would have smoked up the glass all by myself (gives me a chance to see if that rutland 84 is easier the second time), but I have one comedy left to play out. Decided to make a small loaf of bread (dough cycle of the breadmaker) but didn't figure I wanted to fiddle with one of the cast iron loaf pans, so I put it in one of my regular ones (which of course is much too long for that amount of dough), so as I can finally now let the stove burn down for the night, and I have this little loaf that's so far nicely rounded off and risen 15 minutes into being put in the oven, but won't get a chance to peek over the lip of the tin (yes, of course it spread out towards the ends since that was the easy route), so let's see if I can manage to either burn it or make it collapse.

I rescued it before it perished, kind of looks like an art deco baguette

Your avatar always makes me smile.

Just for you, Lila (my dog) just got a big treat from the Big E.

Her inner wolf came out for this one!

...and just so I don't get in trouble, I did not let her eat it all at once. Just a few snack times.
She is getting older and slower so I spoil her a lot. Best rescue dog I've gotten yet.

I decided to keep the windows open on Tuesday night so I could start a fire in the morning on my day off, it was 62 in the house, and hour later it got to 72, It was sure nice to see those rolling flames again....

Not burning here on the Mass/NH border yet. Temps were very mild today.

Getting down to the high 30s and low 40s this coming week. But it warms up quickly with the sun this time of year. Another few weeks for me, at least!

Not yet. I thought about it a couple times. It sure has been nice weather to work outside.

Thinking about it right now . Put a few splits in the stove, along with a homemade starter. It's 50.3 degrees. Supposed to dip into the high
30's by morning. 66 in the house now. I used to be a lot more busy on Saturday nights when I was younger. :)

I've been tempted but the house has just been too warm. We had a few nights in the low 40's but usually the days were sunny and low 70's so the house warms up great. It's been around mid 70's inside around bed time so I just let the furnace take care of any unplanned overnight temperature drop. I hate to waste my precious stash. We are in the temperature menopause phase. Day temps between 94 and 65 and lows between 43 and 72, http://www.nws.noaa.gov/climate/getclimate.php?wfo=ctp

Fire started. 49.3 degrees outside. Stove is drafting well. Start of another season.

I'm hoping it will be at least a couple weeks or more before burning commences. I'd like to wait until at least October.
