So I bought my pellets from the big box store. The man at the contractor's desk was very polite and laid out my delivery options. He said he wanted to get them out soon because it was getting cold and he didn't want anyone being cold. So I asked for a morning delivery for today. (Set this up a week ago ). By 10 AM, no show so I called. Was told it would be on early afternoon truck. When 5 PM came and still no show, I called again. Got another person who. Had to call her driver and would call right back. 30 min. Later she called to say thay the driver could only work 10 hrs. And that he was done for the day. She let it slip that I wasn't the only one not to get their shipment. So she put me down as "priority" for Thursday morning. I can't help but wonder how that is going to happen as they are booked a week out.
I know that stuff happens, but when it does, it is usually best when you call and let the customer know that there is a change, not leave them waiting and wondering.
I bough from them last year without problem.

Got mine from HD with no problems. Driver called me and told me when he was 40 minutes out. Left work and met him. Back to work in less than an hour.

That is the way it should go. I am dealing with the same folks. Maybe they are a little over extended this time of year.

It wasn't a HD truck. Contractor with a full trailer load. Put em where I wanted them.

That is different, did he have a pallet jack? Last time they came here with a fork lift that doesn't fit in my garage so the wife and I restacked them all. I was was anticipating renting a pellet jack for this year. I'll make sure my space is ready just in case I get a guy with a pallet jack.

I did get my delivery today. The guy at HD told me they failed to get 5 of the scheduled visits done Tuesday. HD followed up with a electronic satisfaction survey. I was happy except for their failure to call me when they knew they were not going to be able to keep the original schedule.
The used the largest fork lift I have ever seen. Very wide and huge wheels. The driver didn't bring his rig down this road because he was afraid there was no place for him to turn. There is a big turning area at the end of my drive, but he didn't ask when he called. He parked his rig on the busy highway. I 've never seen anything parked there except when cars break down. Anyway, happy now. The wife and I move a half ton left from last year to the patio. No small thing for us to do!

yea, speaking from experience, with a good-sized truck, usually better to take a walk in before you go into a small driveway or road....might get 1/4 mile down and find out there is no turnaround (necessitating parking on the street anyhow)! Most of the truck mounted lifts are Moffet, or Princeton Teledyne....they aren't huge as forklifts go, a couple thousand pounds max, but they are 8' wide and 9 or 10 feet tall. These forklifts aren't conventional, as they don't have counterweights on the rear, they get their stability from their width and the load itself....so, yea, size-wise they are somewhat large, but capacity-wise, no great shakes.
