It was a bit of a journey, but I finally got my pellets today.

Over the last 2+ years, I only bought an entire ton once. Other than that, I just bought bags here and there. This year, I decided to buy two tons. I called Lowe's, confirmed that they would rent me a truck. Later, I stopped by to see what brands they had available. They had Presto-Logs. Glad to see that! That weekend, I drove over to buy them but was told they no longer rent trucks. They wanted $65 for delivery and I live very close.

I decided to try to borrow a friend's truck and rent a trailer. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. On Tuesday night, I stopped by Lowes and asked if there was anything they could do on the $65 delivery charge. The CSR called a manager. She got 1/2 way into her question and he said no charge for delivery. I said "Deal!"

I ordered two tons. The price per ton was $4.75/bag. Since I used a Lowe's charge, they cut it to $4.51/bag. The price was $225.50/ton.

They were supposed to call me Wednesday morning with a delivery time. I finally called at 9:45 and was told they would deliver that afternoon. I went to work for a couple of hours, then returned for the delivery. They never showed. At about 4:45, I decided to drive over to see when they would come. I happened to speak to a manager at the front desk who said she would get me a new date/time. Turns out the delivery manager was supposed to call and reschedule for Thursday. He forgot. They said they would give me 10% off for the mistake.

Pellets came first thing this morning. The delivery guy was great! Couldn't have been nicer. In the end, I paid $4.05/bag Or, $202.50/ton. Best thing - they delivered the Presto's (they also had Cheat River's).

Unfortunately, I'll never be a pellet pig. ;em We have a geothermal, so the pellet stove is just to keep the wife a little extra toasty in her favorite room. Also, if the temp drops real bad, it'll take the edge off for the Geo.

Happy burning - I have a feeling you'll need to take that edge off the geo more than you know this winter...
