Alderlea door gasket

Ray its 5/16 just dont stretch it thin when installing, make sure you get channel really clean of old sealant,,, i just did mine.. its easy

Edit: Stopped by Aubuchon Hardware on way home from work and bought 5/16" rope and also window gasket.. Price was reasonable there too..

I did it a few times on my old CDW.. Lots of gaskets on that stove so plenty of practice

OK so I had the chimney swept and he also video inspected the flue and all is OK including my tiled flue for my oil FHW heat\DHW flue.. I replaced the door gasket with 5/16"-3/8" (yes that's how Rutland indicates size) and had a hell of a time getting the black gasket cement out of the tube! I have strong hands and it took 2 hands with all my force to get this stuff out of the tube!! That being said I did manage to get the gasket installed.. I also replaced the window gasket and getting the window back in was a tight fit as the OEM gasket is much thinner however it made for a very good seal.. I tested it last night and no more black streaks on the glass ..

The black adhesive was a bear to get out of the tube. But it has held up for me unlike the clear cement.

Did you remove the door to do the replacement? If not, did you have to adjust the door very much? I took the door off so I could not tell how different the OEM gasket was vs the Rutland.

No I didn't need to remove the door especially with that black adhesive and no adjustment was needed..I agree while that adhesive is hard to get out of the tube it should work well and doesn't run or sag at all..
BTW I haven't looked door adjustments and would have to figure that out.

I used the clear stuff on my CDW but also had the doors off.. I do prefer the black adhesive now that I have used it.. It also dries fast which would be best for a gasket replacement in cold weather..

Do you buy it from Alderlea or use Rutland gasket? How expensive is the PE gasket?

I used the black cement as well, its hard to get out, i kept sticking a small metal rod in it and stirring. rtv might be fine but i just feel better about using the cement. i did not remove my door just kept working it around and it was pretty easy, just gotta take your time and be carefull...
