Hi, John, welcome to the board. :)

So, what's the story on the mini hatchet and whatever that is that it's sunk into? Kindling splitting block?

HI John,
welcome to the forum. Nice stove there. I hope all your wood is dry, looks like some of those splits are a tad green.

Hello John, welcome. Where are you located?

Welcome aboard! Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Welcome aboard, and you have the best stove on the market (I have to say that as I have the same one and I'm very unlikely going to spend a ton 'o cash for a bigger stove). And yes, the little F3 gets a tad cranky with "not so dry" wood. Don't ask me how I know.

I do like it very much, yes it can get cranky. Wood should be perfectly dry . It will heat the whole house. It needs attention at the start . I enjoy doing it. After a bit of plying with air controls it's just a ..." enjoying the ride".
My black single wall smoke pipe throws lots of heat also.

Is this an FC3B or the European F3 model?

Joful fan here, congratulations.
