You are going to be hating that stove trying to burn fresh split wood. I would run a dehumidifier in the the garage with that split stacked wood so it will be somewhat OK to burn in a month or two.
The stove is looking real good on that beautiful new hearth. It's going to look great when finished. But, Mellow is right. As good as the new stove is, it is going to burn very poorly with freshly split wood. Call around and see if you can buy some already split ash or kiln dried wood.
Yeah I guess I forgot to mention that the wood in the pic was split and stacked back in April! I have some good dry hickory, some decent birch, dry silver maple and lots of dry poplar! Guess I shoulda mentioned that! I have been lurking around these forums long enough to know not to burn freshly cut wood!
However I have a pile of ash some of which was cut and split a year ago, and about 1.5 cords I cut and split in August! I was told by the guy I cut the ash with u can "cut it and burn it the same day"! It does feel real dry even when I split and touch the middle but I was gonna wait till next season for that!

Great! You should be able to burn the ash later in the season if you run out of the dry stuff. Not sure about the hickory. Like oak, that stuff can take a couple years to dry I'm told.

yes the hickory I have has been cut and split for about 18 months so I'm going to see if it burns ok! I threw a couple pieces on the campfire about two months ago and it burnt really and longer than I wanted to stay up lol!
