Just finished installing new ash door gasket. Glass gasket is next. On order...
Does 5 years sound about right for the lifespan of gaskets?

Sounds about average.

Any reason you did not buy bulk gasketing? I just did a stoves ash and main door for $11 and a tube of silicone adhesive.

Looks like I have 3 different gaskets?? The gasket for the glass looks smaller and dealer said it was a self-adhesive.
We will see. Would make more sense to have all gaskets the same......

P61, 14 years old, original door and ash door gaskets.....still passing the dollar bill test.....if it aint broke, don't fix it....

Can't remember ever replacing a door glass gasket on any stove as there is no movement.

the ONLY time i've ever replaced a glass gasket is when replacing the glass.

I have a section on both sides of the glass that get dirtier than the rest.
If I trace the dirt pattern it leads to the gasket. There is evidence of creosote
near the gasket. So thought it was a good time to change the gasket.
Will update if this fixes the dirt/creosote issue.
May add a picture too.

a dustbar on either side of the glass is pretty normal for the P61
