I've emailed the poster about it. Haven't heard back. Seems too good to be true - my BS meter is twitching.

Vintage Wood Burning Buck Stove - $100 (south huntsville)

Model 91 Bay Heater -- Wood burning Buck Stove/fireplace insert. Includes fan/blower and catalytic combustor features. Size, 29" deep, 33" wide and 23" high. Owned a number of years but in storage most of that time.

Email reply to me...."Due to overwhelming response I have tried to put the ad on hold."

LOL...."I just figured out that I priced it WAY TOO LOW"

That might be the score of the year if you can get it! I think it is a somewhat older model than what I bought, but it looks essentially the same.

The guy I bought from didn't answer my email right away either, and I figured it was already sold. I ended up scoring it for $1000, which I thought was pretty decent even though the stove was four years old.

:( Even if you didn't know much about stoves, you would look at that and say "That's worth $100."

Man that would have been a steal even at $500. Curious to see if he reposts it or if it is already sold.
Sounds like he may re-post, but he's probably got a bunch of people in line. He may price it so it scares a lot of them off, but could still be a deal if it's in great shape, good cat etc.

I made the same error with pricing the Firelight 12 I just sold. Had six people wanting to buy it shortly after posting, and ended up going with the first person that was able to get to me to pick it up. I definitely could have gotten more money for it, but I think it ended up in a good home, and the price covered my restoration cost for it, so I'm happy in the end.

I'd try writing back to the seller and ask what they want for it now. Maybe there is still a chance to jump on it before it gets reposted.

Email him and make a higher offer, see if you can get it that way.

Email no longer works since he deleted ad. Something smells here....he could have priced it at $600 and said it retails for $2500 and gotten lots of interest.

Beware if this is a Nigerian phishing expedition.

yes .. real deals do happen on craigslist .. scored my Buck 91 for $550

I know it gets real cold in Tulsa sometimes, been there a lot, but you got that 91 cheap because it ran them out of the house most of the time.

forgot to add I'd been keeping an eye out for a Buck 91 on CL for the last year. another Buck 91 with no hours w/liner came up for $1,000 .. like an dummy, passed on it ... took me another year to find the $550 one.

23f right now .. headed for 18f tonight .. 2f the following night

Buck 91 is headed for the first real test ...

I was about to pickup a Buck 91 the other week for $500 until the guy told me it didn't have the cat or the housing and he wouldn't come down on the price, let that one go as the price for a new housing and cat's didn't make it feasible for resale.

that's still substantially cheaper than new .. $500 base + $300 cat + $150 (or fab a frame) = under a $1,000 which is a bargain for a Buck 91 with a new cat.

yes I did score mine for $550 complete .. a new cat for $300 is not needed yet, but very soon.
