can not get a constent pellet feed, always having to save it's life. seem to be at the hopper, churns the pellets instead of feeding them. result fire goes out, lots of pellet dust.

Welcome to the forum

We need a little more info:

How old is the stove? When was stove cleaned last? Did you try removing the auger to see if it's loaded with fines? What brand pellets are you using? have you ever had this problem before?

"always having to save it’s life" .....What does this mean??

bare with me, computer not my kind of tool. age, manual has revised 1994. cleaned start of season , 25 bags ago. not loaded with fines will run out clean. MFA brand (think HEAT made). last year OHP local made , have always had problem, this year seems worst, saving it's life means running up staires to throw a hand full in the burn pot to keep the fire going. damb this is harder than running a chain saw.

Phil did you solve your feed problem....I'm having the same issue with my J2000 Fireplace insert,it's an oldie as well(1995) has worked fine but noticed lately I've got to run it on high just to keep it running.
As you pointed out I'm getting a lot of pellet dust and very few pellets...pellet feed auger just churns away spitting out the odd pellet and lots of pellet dust....never use to do this until lately.
Can anyone else chime in if you have any ideas?

Sounds bizarre - I have a J1 from about '00. It has a beast of an auger - never had a jam, feeds like a champ. Off the cuff, I'd say get all the pellets out, take the auger out and inspect. Check out the auger tube - sides clean, any buildup a lip? Post pics.

Ok....think I found my problem....What I need is a picture of the auger motor on a J2000 or J1000,one of the older stoves....think I'm missing a spring or something that holds the auger motor from rotating while the auger turns.
I wired a small spring to the auger motor bracket and the stove frame,it keeps the auger motor from moving up and down when the stove calls for pellets....this has improved my feed problem,I'm now running the stove on a 3 setting and it is continuing to burn and not go out....Think something is missing need a photo of a working stove auger motor so I can compare stoves...if you can take a photo take it one the right side so you can see the auger motor mounting hardware.

Thanks in advance....think we can solve this mystery :)

Thanks ....but it's different then mine,I've got an oldie..1995 :)
Mine does not have the bracket with the two bolts...think it had a spring of some sort to hold the auger motor from turning.
I noticed it also has a flat bolt attached to auger motor bracket that is set to hit the cut out switch if the auger jams.
Anyone else with an older stove?
Just checked my stove it's set on 2 and has been running for about half hour and still burning fine :)
We're getting closer.....

Ah - too bad. Does your board have the two micro trim pots for fuel feed? Mine has one each for high and low. I run them on the high side. I remember them being all wonky when I bought the stove (used). If theyre set too low it could make the fire cycle too low and go out.

Yes mine has two trim pots..one for high feed and other for low feed.Have made adjustments to them as well.
