I just purchased Ventis 3" pipe for my Santa Fe Pellet stove. Aside from where the stove adapter meets the stove do I need to use screws at every joint? The pipe comes with built in band clamps...

PS- I'm in Southern Maine.....it will be inspected by the code office (I will call them too about this).

Thanks!

I can't speak to the code officer part, but for insurance purposes, I only had to have screws at the stove / adapter joint. All of the other joints only needed high temp silicone.

Pellet stove vent connections are not standard, they vary with the manufacturer. Two years ago, the vent pipe I purchased at my local stove shop had twist to lock style joints. I just bought some vent pipe at the same shop, they have changed suppliers and have a different brand that slide together with a silicon rubber gasket, they require screws in each joint.

In accordance with the vent makers instructions and all applicable codes.

Code generally allows it to be in accordance with the vent makers instructions but please note if the code where you are says x and the vent maker says y then you may have to do both x and y to be compliant.

I should add that my pipe is also the twist lock, the name of the brand escapes me at the moment.
