Difference between Englander and PE, Jotul, or Quadrafire

What are the differences between the Englander 30 and other big name stove companies like Jotul, PE, and Quadrafire. Englander's stoves cost considerably less than the other ones mentioned above. Is their quality of stove not as good as the other stoves?? I have always heard good reviews on the Englander 30. If the extra cost is just more fancy stoves then I save my money. If its better quality and longer and better heating than I can understand. Just looking for some feedback. Thanks!!!!!

I have an "expensive" stove in the house and on Monday my Englander 30 will be delivered for the shop. If it's a basic, steel, non-cat, stove you're after and an englander size and fits your needs then I see no reason to spend extra. Even the economy stoves from folks like PE or quadrafire are still way more money than the englander.
 
The Englander is what I would consider a utility stove. Its well built, functions as it should, has excellent support but it is a plain jane steel stove. PE and Quad - they make good stuff and depending on the model, can be a more ornate stove. Also with some models it is a cast vs plate option. Englander is only plate steel.

How are the burn times when you compare these stoves? The stove would be going in the basement which would be finished but it doesn't have to be a show piece.
 
Comparable with any other tube stove of the same size. At 3.5 cuft the Englander is a heating beast. Pound for pound of fuel, I would bet a close race between any of them.

As far as performance, the englander is every bit as good as any non cat plate steel stove. In fact, it's emissions number is very low. In fact, you will have a hard time finding another stove as large as the englander at 3.5 CF. The larger the stove, the higher the output is a decent rule to follow.

It just doesn't look as modern as the other plate steel stoves. Totally subjective thing but aesthetics on the nc30 are a little odd. Same with the BK.

One thing you may want to keep in mind is that the 30 requires an R rating of 1.5 for the hearth which can increase the installation cost some. Other than that, it's a well-loved stove. At 3.5 cf, it's a big stove. It could probably heat the Carlsbad Caverns from what I hear.
