cant find that number referenced in a google search. The following is the one that I, and a lot of others use. It was the best thing ever until I bought a hydraulic splitter.

Whats so great about this ax?
I have the maul from lowes that does most of my wood splitting. The ax usually just get stuck in the wood and I can't get it out

It's the design of it that makes it so good. Cuts through wood like a dream unless its super knotty. Be careful on the follow through many of times I have blasted right through large rounds onto my splitting table

The Fiskars won't stick in the wood like an ax. It is light like an ax, but splits more like a maul. I can swing it for a few hours without major fatigue. Overall, I find it to be the best of both worlds.Whats so great about this ax?

i noticed the fiskars axe was very sharp. do you need to keep on top of this? does its effectiveness depend on how sharp it is?

you can pickup a fiskars sharpener off amazon for 10 bucks or so. I sharpen after every use takes just a few minutes keeps it going strong.

The Fiskars design is like a splitting wedge on the end of an axe handle. It's not for all wood types (no one tool is) but it's a very good splitting tool.

Just picked up an x27 for 34.99 at Walmart. They're marking them down and had one x27 left with no price. The guy wanted to go on break so he sold it to me for the price of a x25.

Yea that's the one. It splits red oak, locust and ash like nothing. Some of the other woods it splits but not quite as simply.
I have a splitter now but still use it. What I don't need anymore is a maul and wedges.. good ridence.

Here is a photo of two of my best tools for splitting. The X27 is the workhorse and next to it Little Brother for kindling. There has been a lot of back and forth about the Fiskers products. In my opinion, it is a matter of choice. Find what works for you, what you are comfortable with and of course what you can afford.

While I like my X27, I want the head from an original Fiskars Super Splitting Axe on a 36" handle. It's a bit heavier than the X25/X27 head and has a different geometry. It really is like swing a pole with a splitting wedge on the end.

The X25 and X27 replaced the Super Splitting Axe.
