Today was the first day of my pellet burning future. Got the final vent section to get through the roof in the mail yesterday. I laid out the hole from inside the attic, went out on roof, sawed hole, installed flashing, connected last section of pipe, storm collar, vert. term. cap and sealed it all up.

The stove is a pelpro home heater deluxe 120. Reason I went with this stove is the 120 pound hopper, large room blower, home heater style and the sale price from Menards was under $1,000.

Before this purchase I stopped in 3 stove shops to see what they had to offer. The first dealer only had one brand and there was not a larger home heater style stove. The price with stove and install sounded high. The second shop just had a few floor models on closeout (again small units) and said they dont sell and were only popular when they first came out. The third shop just had a few dusty brochures in the back and said they dont sell many pellet stoves but they could order one if I wanted. Then it seemed like he was trying to talk me out of buying one bringing up all the cleaning, adjustments and fact they use power to run. I think they just did not want to deal with installing and servicing a pellet stove. The shops seem to deal mostly in log burning stoves, fireplaces and patio furniture in these parts. In the city everybody heats with NG and a fireplace is mostly for looks and ambiance unless you go out to the rural areas like where I moved to.

So I made the choice to buy from a big box store and do my own install. No problem I work in construction and diy as much as I can.

Hmm what if I run out? Well the forum says they will keep till next season and they are still on sale... Better take it slow this thing is a bit over its cargo cap. _g

So far it runs like a champ. Keeps the first floor nice and toasty (too hot gotta run med/low), but its 51::F out now. I will update this post as I figure out right settings, what burn grate/ ash build up looks like after a few days/week of burning etc.

Welcome and good luck on your stove.

it's still before first frost (here anyway)
looks like you qualify for pellet pig status. ;lol

even in a still shot, that flame looks nice and lively.

Looks good. Did you "pickle" the galvanized pipe before painting? If not, it may start to flake off after a while.

Somersets! Way to go! Excellent choice!

Enjoy....

Yeah I did a wash with a rag and some simple green, then a pass of white vinegar let that sit then a final wipe with wet rag and let dry. Painted with satin grill/stove paint. It seemed like it was easy to scratch off during the install, so I will have to see how it holds up..

Congrats on the new stove and all those pellets. Looks great!....and an A for effort on a proper "New stove" post. Attaboy!

Welcome aboard... just ignore everything imacman sez and you'll be OK.

That looks like a lot of unit for the price!
I wish I'd known about it before I got my CAB50... looks like yours has a lot more options!

I think I've been to that third shop, and gotten similar advice. North side of Toledo, almost to Michigan?

Good luck, and I'll be happy to come pick up your stale pellets.:)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! thats just WRONG!

to the OP, nice looking unit, nothing wrong with the stoves from the Big Box (heck i sell em to the big box, not your brand) but PelPro seems to have a reputable line of stoves its a nice looking beast. enjoy it, just please pay attention to the cleaning processes, this is the number one killer of pellet stoves. i see it all the time.a good solid stove tats well maintained will be there for you, if you neglect it, it will bite you when you really need it to run.

and of course a BIG welcome aboard!

Nice attractive utilitarian look , nothing fancy but it`s got clean lines . I like the appearance of it more than my Harman P-38. It sure looks like a workhorse and that`s what your gonna want come the freezing cold.
Great bunch of pictures. Good luck with it all.

Thanks for the comments. I plan to keep this thing running like a top because the longer it burns the more money I save. Next step is find a deal on one of those green ash vacs and figure out the type of stat I want and where to mount it.

It does have clean lines and a HUGE hoppa.

Take notes new members, this is how to get everyone's attention to your posts;). Nice set-up and welcome to the jungle:cool:. Psst, hide your beer, stash of pellets and put your stove make in your SIG!

Looks nice ..
