Could a tall chimney attract lightning?

Subject comes up around once a year. In all the years I have been on here nobody has reported a strike. I have seen pics of lightning destroyed brick chimneys.

Nice stack, by the way.
 
I have never heard of a class A getting hit.
I have a friend with an exterior masonry chimney with a SS flue, he was hit. It cracked the poured concrete wall from the thimble up, blew the trim ring off the wall, blew most light bulbs in the house and killed their appliances! It was pretty bad!
 
Looks like you have some taller trees close, so chances are slim IMHO.
