Two weeks ago, I purchased an Lennox Winslow pellet stove and had it installed. (My second pellet stove.) It's nice and delivers good heating, but when the burner/blower dial is turned up, I get an annoying vibration from (what seems to be) the ventilation blower. (The dial has settings from 1-5 and the vibration comes in on levels 4 or 5). I video taped the to show the noise and played it back at the shop where I bought it. (This isn't a subtle noise - it's very noticeable.) The store sent a tech out and replaced the blower. The noise has been reduced, but it's still there.

If this were a used stove, I wouldn't be concerned, but this is a new high-end stove. It doesn't make this noise in their show room and I don't think it should make noise in my home either. Am I wrong? Are me expectations too high? Any advice or experience offered would be appreciated.

It shouldn't be overly loud, but then again, that's why they're called blowers & not fans. Fans tend to be mostly silent. Blowers don't. If you go back to their showroom, try to get there when it's not densely packed with customers. You may notice that the showroom model is making just as much noise, but with all of the background sounds of the showroom when you were ther originally, it just wasn't as obvious...

Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear in the problem I'm describing, once the stove is heated up (45 minutes or so), if I'm running the blower a level of 4 or 5, there's a distinct vibrational sound that isn't there at lower levels. It sounds like the fan (or blower) is spinning at a speed that it's loose in it's bearings or bushings. If I turn it down to level 3, the noise goes away completely. Turn it back to 4 or 5 and it's back again. I uploaded the video I took here: www.testifymusic.com/misc/lennoxwinslow.wmv . Does this 'sound' right?

That DOES sound off. If it were a bearing/bushing problem, I think it would be evident at any speed. What you have definitely sounds like a 'rattle' to me. Can you remove any protective shrouds & get to the fan while it's running? Maybe you can see if there's anything that's loose that's making noise becuase of the harmonic created by the blade rotation.

I have a similar issue with a new to me stove. Quiet when cool but noisy when warm. I tracked it down to a metal panel that gets loose when warm. Cooling it down as I type to tighten up and isolate a thing or two and finish the OAK.

I have the same stove, although a 2006 model. I had this vibration but only after lots of use. Is the noise coming from the exhaust blower or the convection blower? I know in a couple different incidents, like say not tightening the convection blower screws good enough it would have a vibration. Also, when the blower motors are dirty they are off balance and vibrate like crazy. This doesn't seem to be your issue. I would identify which blower it is and than make sure everything is tight and gaskets are good. You can pull the doors off easy enough. Just lift up and see whats going on in there.

The noise seems to be coming from the blower on the bottom (not sure what it's job is). I've got the stove on 'low' now. Tonight I'll crank the heat up and see if I can locate the source.

Bottom left or right looking at the stove? Both blowers are mounted pretty low.
