I put the feeder on full and the blower on high and a few minutes later my smoke alarms are going off. Could it be the finish on the stove hasn't burned off yet?

For sure, could be. Or, finish on the pipe - is it plain or painted? Might also be pipe joints. May need to be taped or hi-temp siliconed. It's positive pressure from combustion blower out. Do you smell paint or pellets?

There it is. I'd disable the detectors, crank it up and open some windows. See if the smell diminishes over time.
