Where to stack the uglies

Hi all recently cut and split a big oak that had fallen in my yard now I'm about to stack but have a lot of the uglies and will make for a sloppy wood stack usually will finish the stack with the uglies on top but have a abundance of them. Any ideas from the wood veterans here on this great and informative site.

5 pallets screwed together to make a bin. Keeps them off the ground and offers good airflow. Easy to tarp the top if you need/want.

Didn't we just talk about this last week? ;lol

I do the same, but I'm busy, so I only find time to screw together three pallets. One flat, two book ends, 2x4 knee braces. Nothing falls out the sides, unless I get even more careless than usual.

My stacks always seem to end up leaning one way or another so I stick the uglys in like shims where needed to attempt to keep the stacks straight. Seems even when I get a perfect looking row, by the next year it looks like it's about to fall over. I guess as the wood dries and shrinks, it can't be predicted as to which way it will lean.
 
Yeah the tree only went through one section too;) it was only about 5 feet from some serious branches hitting the deck though. Me and the wife watched it come down if u blinked u would have missed it crazy stuff. I like the pallet idea I will probably try and pick up four one to keep off ground the three sides so it's open and can get to it. Thanks guys
 
I just fenced in a pallet with some old chicken wire. They get good airflow this way.

This is going to be the use for the collapsible plastic pallets I mentioned last week. Easy to store till needed, and can be moved by tractor. Just going to toss them all in loosely and let them bake in the sun till needed.

I agree with Jags, I do the same thing with my uglies, shorts and punks. Speaking of which, I brought up 3 wheel barrow loads to the porch today for this week and weekend.
