Thermometer for Insert

I use a digital meat thermometer that the body has a magnet in it. I leave the body of the thermometer on the top of the surround and insert the probe into the outlet air duct. I set the audible alarm for 210 deg. This is for my set up-it took some time to play with it for the set point, ie wood species/air settings and fan speeds. Pretty inexpensive and the battery lasts a long time. Hope this helps.

Here's what I use...it a stovepipe thermo but it works well. Here's a picture and if you look to the left over the small window you can see it but it could go on the face beside the cat probe too. The picture was before I started burning.
