Painting brick fireplace. Need advice.

Instead of paint , have you thought of tile, slate or marble? I custom slated mine and our brick was even uglier. Attached a photo for ya.

mine isnt as big but i've thought of adding marble around my surround, thinking of using clear silicone to stick it to the bricks so if i decide to remove it here will be no mortar mess

I would not use the silicone to set marble. You do need a modified thinset to set marble. Any questions please ask. I have been a tile/ marble setter for over 30 years now. Feel free to pick my brain!

I have an American harvester 6039t and am having trouble with the settings. I've been reading the post on here and everybody has a manual damper they pull back and forth and I do not. I can not get the stove to not filll up. ( sure it doesn't fill up on heat range 2 but that doesn't heat the house) It runs great on heat range 4 room fan 9 combustion fan 4 auger setting at 1. It runs great for 8 hours but if fills up slowly. I've tried combustion fan at settings 4-9. Is there a way I can put a damper in this model? How many tines does everybody else's agitator have? Mine has 5, 3 on one side and two on the other. But it builds up in the corners of burn pot. Any help would be great and greatly appreciated. I live in Wisconsin its -15 degrees here and I have a 1600 sq ft house one level. Thanks again

Hey i a paint contractor i have painted quit a few fire places if you do go with the cover stain or kilz you have to use the oil to kill any stain Latex version will not do it even though it says it will. so you have to plastic off every thing around it because it will speckle everywhere. I have painted red ones like yours and the red will cover up with regular latex paint and bonding will not be and issue. the only reason to stain kill is any black and smoke. now i have painted old fire place that most don't use the just want a look change i would have to call my suppler to see if he would recommend latex with the heat or if you should use a oil enamel. just let me know if you want me to make the call.

+1 on not painting it. Paint looks................tacky on brick.
