Jotul Oslo leaking creosote - normal?

I noticed some creosote leaking from the back of my Oslo today. I've had about 20 fires in this new stove and have been burning kiln dried or well seasoned wood. Attached is a photo of how it is dripping from the gasket area at the rear. I think the gasket is between the back plate and the air manifold, but not sure. Is this normal?

That may not be creosote. Jotul uses a ceramic -ike cement that bleed a black tarry substance as it dries out. Usually this happens only when the stove is new. Heat dries it out.

Watch this area. If nothing changes then this could be residue from the cement.

is that the bottom of the stove? can you please clarify where on the stove that pic is taken
 
This normally happens when the break in burns were either not done or not correctly. It's simply the moisture from the cement, although I do agree it looks a lot like creosote.
 
Sometimes this shows up as drops of a black tarry liquid on the hearth that is water soluble. We had it with our Castine and there are usually a couple inquiries a year about this.

I would think any creosote dripping back into the stove would burn up, if the stove were burning and that's when it would be liquid, when the flue is hot, no?
 
Its fine as begreen said it is just the cement nothing to worry about
 
Id swipe it with your finger when the stove is cold and smell it. You'll be able to tell if it's creosote. Like the others said it's probably moisture being pushed out of the furnace cement from the curing stage. I put a new back on a Firelight the other day that was damaged in shipping. It did the same thing when I did a test fire on it.
