Is it me or is this years Maine Wood Pellets more ashy than last year? I have burned 5 bags so far this year and cleaned the stove today and was shocked at the amount of ash. They have always seemed ashy to me but the price is right - a little extra cleaning is no big deal. I haven't changed any stove settings from last year. Anyone else have any input?

Not sure if they are ashy(er) or not this year.

Its hard to judge a pellet during this time of the year because the stove spends most of the time idling.

They run much cleaner under load.

Hows the heat?

Still too early to tell IMHO....I was thinking the exact same thing (and you and I bought ours at the same store) until today when I got back from being up north for the weekend and fired the stove up. It cleaned right up from the black ash to a nice clean white dust......

I got this batch from the Home Depot raid - they price matched Walmart plus took 10% off. The TSC stuff is a few layers down the stack. I grabbed some bags of Ambiance just to see the difference in ash after 5 bags. As for the heat, it doesn't seem any different from last year but it is hard to tell during shoulder season, although judging from the forcast I'm not sure if this coming week will still qualify as shoulder season.

This past Friday night/Sat morning would have been a good test of heat...how did they do?
