I have a Harman Invincible Insert from mid 90's. The stove took a power surge from the generator, burning something out ! I only have looked at the board so far. I haven't pulled the whole unit out yet. The board has a fuse on it which I changed and plugged in and fuse blew right away. Does any one know if there is a voltage regulator before control board. I don't recall seeing it or do you think control board is fried. Any help would be appreciated !

Try unplugging the combustion blower and replace the fuse again. If the fuse still blowers, unplug the distribution blower and replace the fuse again. It could be that one of the blowers has been fried from the surge.

I'm guessing its the board. Try and and isolate components one at a time turning the feed control to test

agreed with Scott- there is no VR before the board. try making up a pigtail for the various feeders and fans and powering them directly to line voltage......if the dont pop the breaker you are good, then its the board. Please note though, that if you buy a new board, and use it, its likely not returnable, so, test your fans and feeder first!

Thanks for all the feedback haven't had time to play with it yet, I will probabaly be frezzing my azz off by the time I get to it. If I disconnect every thing coming from the board and the fuse pops, then in all likelyhood its the board ? Like someone mentioned if I get the board and lay down $250 and plug that in and it goes pop , that will be a quick $250 gone. thanks once again for all the feedback

Miserabledude, I also have an old Harman Invincible, and last year I bought a 3000 watt Champion generator in case of power outages. I haven't actually had to use it yet, but I've been a bit worried about surges from the generator blowing my board. I've been thinking about getting rid of the Champion and trying to find a reasonably priced inverter generator, since they're supposed to be better for sensitive electronics. What type of generator do you have that caused the problem with your stove? Were you using a surge protector?

I read a post on here somewhere that older stoves with analog (vs digital) boards weren't as susceptible to damage from surges. I'm not sure but I think my Invincible has an analog board - it's the T model, built in 1993. Do you know if yours is analog or digital? I think around '95 Harman started building the Invincible RS which went to a digital board.

I pulled the stove out disconnected everything, put in new fuse. plugged it in and pop. I guess it must be the board if everything is disconnected and it pops. My stove says test date 6/15/94 . I will upload pic of my board. I screwed up with generator. One oclock in morning tring to backfeed into the dryer, the choke was on and generator didn't run right. Since then I have had the panel 10 circuit put in for the generator (7500 Generac). Blew out a few things in house. board.JPG

Want to thank everyone for there help ! Put the board in last week, plugged it in and everything came on, turned to off and everything still was running ! Read the paper that came with board, one of the dipswitch was in wrong position. Switched that over and it began to run well. Stove runs a little different with new board but it works fine. Thanks once again for all the help !!!

This may be a long time out since your last reply but we are currently going through the same issues as your last post. Got the new board, installed properly, plugged stove in with switch in the OFF position and everything turns on! Nothing will turn off and the auger is running even though the feed motor light isn't on??? Just spent over $200.00 on a board that can't be returned! All the dipswitch settings match the diagram for a p-61 model on the paper. Our stove has the same test date 6/15/94. PLEASE HELP!

Check the polarity of your outlet. Have heard of some strange things if bad polarity.

Opened a conversation with you (new to the forum thing) about our issues. Double checked the wire against the owner manual already and they all match per the manufacturers wiring diagram.

Change dipswitch #5 position.

Tell me what positions you put the dipswitches in. Also make sure you are holding the board at the correct angle, just had someone holding the board upside down having issues because of that.

smwilliamson- you made a comment on another thread about turning all DIP switches off on a new board, removing feeder micro-switch because its not necessary anymore, and always replacing the esp probe when replacing a board. We did not replace esp probe (unfortunately didn't even check it when stove was out to be cleaned) and haven't removed the micro-switch. Could that be the solution to our problem? We have tried two other outlets in the house and the outlet we normally used was replaced when the stove board melted incase that was where the issue started. Stove is still acting the same :(

Up and on indication being on the left is correct. If you haven't replaced the ESP then it could be bad, or just dirty as well. Whatever hit your board bad enough to melt connections could have damaged it as well. This isn't the fastest place to discuss problems with me for a quick response, I am pretty busy taking care of business but I try to check in here every day.

Like some one said #5 depends what color ESP probe you have. When I plug mine in everything runs for a few seconds and turns off with #5 off. I don't have a red probe. Good Luck Board.jpg
