Picked up and stacked 2 tons of stove chows today to start the season. This should take us to about the end of January, or untill Somersets arrive at our local Lowes (hopefully). It seems as though the general review for stove chow was positive so figured we would try them, they cant be worse then the 2 tons of cheat rivers we got last year. The only other options in our area currently are:

Cheat River
Natures Own
North American
Instant Heat
Green Supreme
Green Team
New England
Timber Heat

So hopefully I made the right decision........... IMG_20131025_154321.jpg

Ahhh Stove Chow... they're beginning to be a staple in every stove's diet....

like the pellet sifter too:p

nice pellet sifter.... do you have more pictures... are there build threads on this forum of other people's sifters???

Here is a closer picture and a sketch that I built it from, I believe that it came from here somewhere. Whole thing was like 15$, i just used scrap wood from my shop for the base. The holes are trial by error depending on your vacuum, just do a couple try it and drill a couple more and so on. I did not use any glue, instead i used small screws and duct strapping and I used a funnel instead of a bowl and just cut the bottom out appropriately. I also only used one layer for the screen not 2, 2 was to much. Works great and keeps the dust out of the house and the fines out of the stove.downloadfile-1.jpegdownloadfile.jpeg

thanks for sharing that.... I'm going to build one and see if it helps reduce the amount of jams I am having with my 25-PDVC auger.

I've got a ton of Cheat River, with the first bag in now. Stocking up on some Hamer's when I run through Lowes.

Good luck with the Cheat Rivers........maybe you will have better luck then we did last year, they burnt good just super dirty and filled the pot daily.

I burned both last season and the stove chow burned much hotter than cheat river.

This year home depot is cheaper by $10 for stove chow compared to cheat river at lowes and home depot is a tad closer to the house. Picking up a ton this weekend. My second ton will follow shortly. 2-2.5 ton should do it for me this year and my pellet stove is main heat source.

Only burned one night so far in this very young season.
